keary colbert had that rookie season that looked good.

Was just about to put this in there. The kid looked like the real deal that first year and then into the second for a bit. Then he got injured and he never was the same again. I was never sure if it was a lingering injury or if it just knocked the grit out of him.

Really had high hopes for him after he and Moose had that great season after Smitty got injured.

Patrick Jeffers injury was a real shame.  99 showed so much promise in the passing game with Moose and Jeffers.  Beuerlein looked really good that year.  He was a statue, but he had great accuracy in a clean pocket.  He was on the team for years, but that 99 year was so good I'd almost classify him as a one year wonder as well.

Cool thread @Dingo_ate_Babies

I was considering throwing Beuerlein in there. He had that monster year in 99, but never had anything close to that ever in his career before or after. Definition of a journeyman QB.

Shayne Graham was a very good PK for the Panthers and filled in when Kasay was hurt 1-year.  Had a solid career with the Bengals.  His sister would sometimes post on the Huddle when he played for the Panthers. Panthers-sis or something like that was her name.

He had a great smile, though.

    • I’ve said it in the past that this team has found brief runs of success this season off of a player or few that decides to turn God mode on for the day. Yesterday Chuba looked like the stud many forgot he was last season. Mike Jack ball hawked a pick 6 to the house? WTF? Derrick m-fin Brown.  Does anyone remember the last time a Panthers lineman closed out a big game? That play was classic Jenkins.  Coker is a stud (we are VERY fortunate to have him). Tet is a stud. Brown is a stud. Rico is a stud. Ickey is a stud. The O line continues to play much better than they rightfully should be. The depth players by and large have been refreshingly competent.  If they would have just played Panthers brand football all season they would probably have 9 wins but it is what it is. I think Bryce is far more comfortable in the game manager role, which for now is ‘ok’… for now. A team that can run the ball at will and has an opportunistic defense is a tough out for anybody, home or away.
    • True. But that elevation gain is no joke on the lungs.
    • Take away Bryce's two 4th and short passes and the screen to Chuba and what are you left with on fhe passing game? See how it goes when you selectively eliminate the three best plays? We caught lightning in a bottle yesterday on both sides of the ball. The D was overall not good but had three great plays forcing turnovers taking one back for a TD. The offensive passing game overall was not good but had three big plays resulting in TDs.
