My guess is he hand his hand wrapped around the steering wheel and braced for impact on said wheel, and the jolt forward with his thumb around the wheel got sprained?

Yea that’s what I assumed. He tried to brace himself for the impact and the thumb got bent the wrong way or something.

This is apparently too complicated for a straight up simple play by play. ?

I think the motivations are really much simpler. And it isn't Canales throwing a payer under the bus to protect himself. I doubt seriously.

It is almost the trade deadline. The writers and talkers won't shut up about Bryce and Someone feels like it is important for Bryce to still get field time. Chicago and Washington show that. So there is that.

We don't know if they are getting calls about Young or not, nor how many or how few, nothing. But they know. Doesn't that make more sense as to why they'd show him off?

Broncos defense is good, they will be like the ‘85 Bears on Sunday

It sounds to me like neither quarterback has been very good. That being said I think Bryce Young will do a hell of a lot better against the Broncos than the Saints did against the Broncos with their rookie quarterback.

NFL is a nasty, nasty business.....and it's most definitely a business where guys see the underside of the bus on the regular.

Playing Bryce on the road vs the #3 D in the NFL....will only hurt his stock.  In no way does this week present a show him off opportunity.  I think Canales is cool w/ that because the offers for Bryce are so comically small the Panthers are probably just not willing to take the PR hit of it.

Well I wouldn’t pay anything for him. Maybe

I guess Andy’s thumb is really bad and that’s all there is to it.

I still think there are just flat out odds.....since Bryce can't be traded, he can give Canales/Andy a breather.  Accident gives the excuse.

Canales and Andy have been horrific of late.  Likely would be in Denver IMO.  So then the noise gets louder.  Canales basically gets a pass with Bryce and can pick things back up w/ Andy vs some weak teams.  I mean, this offense has been 2023-esque of late.....despite great OL play.  Canales has to change that.

It will be better for him behind our OL to start with.
Saints line was as bad an OL as some of the Panthers 2023 exploits. They were really bad.

We are talking a top overall pick in his second season vs a 5th round rookie literally thrown in and it is his second game. You certainly expect the One to do better. But, still he may not. Those last numbers from vs LA were brutal.

rattler went 25/35 (71% completion) for 172 yards (4.9 ypa), 0 TD, 0 INT for an 82 qb rating

bryce has a career average per game of 59.5 completion %, 5.4 ypa, 2.1 TD/game and 1.9 int/game (basically a wash)

bryce has been sitting on the couch for the last month+, only getting up to go shop at the mall for hats or find the charger for the computer he's watching netflix on. If he does better in denver sunday than spencer rattler, it would arguably be one of the better games of his career.

he is goddamn trash

    • Tanking in the NFL isn’t really a thing and anybody wanting to bring the rigged lottery to the NFL has an ulterior motive.
    • I understand where you're coming from, but we need another safety IMHO. Other positions, especially on defense, dont have ideal depth, but to me at least S is the one position we can't stand pat at even when thinking about the future
    • 100%. Nick Scott was awful last year. Like, even for a franchise that hasn't historically invested in that position, it stood out for how awful it was. If he sees meaningful snaps at S again we're cooked.  Maybe he has value for ST, but I certainly hope we can upgrade. Jordan Fuller, who was by all accounts an Evero guy, was almost as bad. Xavier Woods was bad, but not complete garbage. Still did not want him back. Those 3 guys seriously may have been the worst S group in the NFL. And they all were brought in, especially Fuller, as good fits for this system. Everyone knocks the defensive line, and they deserve a lot of blame, too, but so, so many times our safeties inability to tackle let 4-5 yard runs turn into 10+. And it happened over and over and over again if you watch the film. Honestly, Demani Richardson was the only S by the end of the year I remember making positive plays. I have no issue with Richardson being in the mix and/or competing to be a starter, but we still need another S desperately IMHO who has actually played meaningful snaps in the NFL. The only caveat/excuse for our secondary was the fact our pass rush was nonexistent for large stretches last year. Maybe that helps with coverage, but I dont see how that makes any of these guys better at tackling.  I know it somewhat feels like piling on at this point, but I feel 100% confident in saying this was the worst tackling team in franchise history. The 70ish yard pass play we gave up to Jamarr Chase where he ran through and past everyone in the secondary has to be up there in terms of most embarrassing plays I've ever seen. I can't imagine how embarrassed Kuechly must have been watching from the booth... I think bringing back Evero was a mistake, but for a team that has had nothing but change over the past 5 years, I'm willing to see this through. I definitely think we added significantly to the floor of this defense with the additions we made. I dont think Evero has any further excuses if he cant field a unit that can at least somewhat hold their own. Fixing the safety play is going to be a big part of that.
