I think Morgan is qualified. Hell he was probably more qualified than Fitt.

Problem is he was here to help build the steamer last year so he was tainted.

This is a hall pass year with Morgan and Canales, for me at least. Morgan did everything he could to help Bryce succeed this season to the detriment of the defense, but we all knew that going into the season. This was going to be the rebuild year we should have had back in 2020. Because Bryce poo the bed so hard we need to sell whatever assets we have left and stockpile as much draft capital as possible. Look for improvement next season, this year is a lost cause so there's no sense getting upset.

I think saying he's qualified is being generous just my opinion.

He was here as Fitterer's righthand man through far too many bad decisions.

And let's be real. He knew as much as we did Bryce Young had a very slim chance of becoming a franchise QB this season. He and Canales decided to continue coddling Bryce and didn't give him any legit competition in camp and once again set their fanbase up for an utterly embarrassing season. To have sold out the defense the way they did just to make absolutely no attempt at adding another young QB to this roster not named Plummer is egregious.

Also all that money Dan tied up in the OL and we couldn't move the ball whatsoever on a 4th and 1.

Morgan absolutely does not get a pass at least in my POV. He needs to start showing some high quality returns and soon.

Wouldn't be surprised if we were just waiting it out for yet another WR to get hurt somewhere else in the NFL so the asking price gets bumped up as high as possible.

I don't think this is us making a shrewd move. I think it's us figuring out that this poo is over. He doesn't want to be here. At all.

Asked if the decision had anything to do with keeping Johnson healthy for trade value, coach Dave Canales deferred to general manager Dan Morgan and Brandt Tilis, the executive vice president of football operations.

Panthers and Diontae don't want to take a chance of an injury Sunday prior to him being traded

People need to stop obsessing about draft picks. If you have a good player sign them and cut all the poo ones.

Thats how you build a good football team and not be stuck in rebuilding for 7 years…

I think that's incorrect for the most part.  You build your foundation through the draft and then fill in the rest around them once you have a solid enough foundation.

Morgan ruined any grace i was giving at the draft.  This draft felt exactly like a Fitterer draft and I was no longer willing to give him a pass for all the awful moves while he was Fitts right hand man.  He may be qualified for the job but that doesn't mean he's good at it.  His eye for talent doesn't seem very good and he's drafting specialized players that mostly fit in old schemes that don't work anymore.  I'm more done on Morgan than anyone.  Canales I think should get more time.  Even though the train wreck that we call our "defense" would be awful no matter who the coach was, I'm also done with Evero.  It's not his fault they're terrible, I just hate his soft scheme and play calling.

We can't keep talent on this team.

Talent attracts talent. Where is our talent? OL and maybe two guys on defense and one is gone for the year? Add in that nobody wants to play for Tepper or with Bryce and that's two big things.

Too early to call it a fitterer draft, we have no idea if everyone sucks or not. right now 3 of our picks are contributing significantly already in their rookie years with the potential for a 4th in brooks. Also, he got us a 2nd round pick back for the 2025 draft, so that's another positive.

That's already better than a fitterer draft, but again, too early to tell if everyone sucks or not.

If all 4 of the players end up at least mid, that's a better draft than Fitt ever had.

    • It is hard to win in the NFL. I’m never going to put an * next to a Dub.
    • We had a very favorable matchup our o-line manhandles theirs. Even Etienne looked like he would have had a great game on his limited rushing opportunities.
    • I think that's part of the problem, he's spreading the ball around too much, many of them are the first read play calls, and on top of that, a large portion of them are purposefully called screens or other short passes. I just looked, the Cardinals are the only other team in the league right now without at least 3 players with 100+ yards receiving so far this year, with the majority of teams having 4 or more.  And even then, their #2 right now is McBride with over 200 yards. Our 2nd leading receiver this year has 108 yards (albeit with 4 more players with 82 or more). On the surface, that might not be as alarming as you might think, but when you add into it that Bryce is currently 6th in the league in pass attempts, and it's even more alarming that he hasn't gotten a 3rd player to 100 yards so far and his second highest is only 108. XL has 39 yards on 18 targets.  Renfrow has 82 yards on 24 targets.  Tremble has 87 on 16 targets.  Sanders has 92 on 14 targets. None of those are good enough, so why aren't we calling more plays with T-Mac as the first read and forcing the ball to him (and again, that's not me wanting my guy to get more targets, that's me wanting more targets for the only productive pass catcher so far this year, I'd feel the same no matter what that player's name was). All of this is why I have issues with Canales' play calling.  How do you have a player who had 73 yards in the first half and then you only give him 1 target in the 2nd half despite playing from behind the majority of that time? You can be happy about the win, happy about Dowdle getting 200 yards, but in a game where your QB threw it 30 times, I can't accept the above sentence in the same breath, that's just terrible play calling, which is on top of the already predictable play calling in general, which is also on top of boring play designs as well. Add it all up, and THAT is why I'm unhappy even after a win, not because "my guy" didn't have a bigger game.
