Positive signs from Bryce

Anyone still blowing the horn for Bryce Young is not watching the games. Bryce is captain check down. Canales scripted short easy passes just so he could complete literally anything. When he has to throw past the line of scrimmage from the pocket, he is remarkably terrible. He flat out is too short to see his receivers and read a defense. He will never be a good NFL caliber QB. Never.

Who was he throwing the ball to today?

At the end of the day he threw two TDs. No QB has done that against this defense this year. He did that without his top two WRs and a rookie as his #1. That’s something to build on from a young QB.

I can always appreciate optimism from a fellow fan. I enjoyed seeing some of the young players get involved. Really thrilled with Coker/XL.

However I have totally given up on Bryce. One TD was a short field and the other was garbage time. The Broncos were never in danger of losing the game. Felt like a shutout.

Late to this thread but I just don't understand why some fans still want to see Bryce somehow turn it around. Is it because he's a Panther? Because he was a #1 pick? Because of what we gave up to get him? Because you're a Bama fan?

Bryce will never be elite. At most, he'll turn it around and be average at best. Is that what you want for our starter? Some average at best guy out there week after week?

98 of that was in one garbage time drive

Most passing yards allowed on the season by the Denver Broncos D. Stop acting like the Broncos were not trying... Sean Payton drawing trick plays, going for it on 4th down while leading by 3 scores with 5mins left, keeping the starters on the field.

No one is saying that Denver wasn't trying. But, the defense wasn't nearly as aggressive at end of the 4th quarter as they were after Carolina scored their first TD (after a turnover on short field).

After that score we couldn't even manage one red zone trip or even get close enough to kick a FG. It wasn't all on Bryce. Legette dropped a crucial pass that could have kept us in the game. We also had several bad/ill-timed penalties that killed all of our momentum. Once the score was 28-7 Bryce was able to connect on few good throws. By that time the game was over.

I don't care if Bryce picks up over 100 yards thru the air when the game is out of reach. I want to see him keep us competitive for an entire game. He doesn't have the ability to do that. Once the Panthers are down by more than a score its an all but guaranteed loss because the defenses don't have to worry about our QB's ability to pass the ball accurately downfield.

Give him another chance. That was his best game this season. Starting Dalton is completely useless.

Tell that to players and coaches which may have incentives in their contract or are playing for film and their next team

or the season ticket holders who pay  money to trot out to that poo show every sunday

When you have to gaslight yourself and others into thinking Bryce has it and just needs help, you're rooting for a QB that does not have the ability to win games. Bryce is not a threat to opposing defenses. Heck even Sean Payton said our offense was trash, and that starts with BY9.

Bryce doesn't give us a fighting chance of anything other than getting a top pick in the following draft.

    • It is hard to win in the NFL. I’m never going to put an * next to a Dub.
    • We had a very favorable matchup our o-line manhandles theirs. Even Etienne looked like he would have had a great game on his limited rushing opportunities.
    • I think that's part of the problem, he's spreading the ball around too much, many of them are the first read play calls, and on top of that, a large portion of them are purposefully called screens or other short passes. I just looked, the Cardinals are the only other team in the league right now without at least 3 players with 100+ yards receiving so far this year, with the majority of teams having 4 or more.  And even then, their #2 right now is McBride with over 200 yards. Our 2nd leading receiver this year has 108 yards (albeit with 4 more players with 82 or more). On the surface, that might not be as alarming as you might think, but when you add into it that Bryce is currently 6th in the league in pass attempts, and it's even more alarming that he hasn't gotten a 3rd player to 100 yards so far and his second highest is only 108. XL has 39 yards on 18 targets.  Renfrow has 82 yards on 24 targets.  Tremble has 87 on 16 targets.  Sanders has 92 on 14 targets. None of those are good enough, so why aren't we calling more plays with T-Mac as the first read and forcing the ball to him (and again, that's not me wanting my guy to get more targets, that's me wanting more targets for the only productive pass catcher so far this year, I'd feel the same no matter what that player's name was). All of this is why I have issues with Canales' play calling.  How do you have a player who had 73 yards in the first half and then you only give him 1 target in the 2nd half despite playing from behind the majority of that time? You can be happy about the win, happy about Dowdle getting 200 yards, but in a game where your QB threw it 30 times, I can't accept the above sentence in the same breath, that's just terrible play calling, which is on top of the already predictable play calling in general, which is also on top of boring play designs as well. Add it all up, and THAT is why I'm unhappy even after a win, not because "my guy" didn't have a bigger game.
