acknowledging that we know for a fact all NFL owners are in fact not doing that?  They don't.  And we found out about these meetings via a vet NFL coach that stumbled into this nightmare for a couple months.

actual owners for the most part aren't doing that....because they don't know diddly squat about actual football, winning games, scheming, playcalling, etc.  So why waste a coaches time every week.  Most owners are big picture dudes/gals.  Not inserting themselves into the day to day/weekly aspect of a football team playing football.   As has been said for a LONG time.  Tepper should hire someone to run the football team and stay out of it.

the real monkey is Tepper.  The dude who doesn't know more about the actual football aspect of the Panthers than any random huddler yet wants to be part-time GM/HC.

Whats grasping?

Youre looking for something concrete to pin the teams ineptitude on.  Trying to pin it on a meeting between the owner and the coach is grasping.

Unless you're trying to tell me that David is prescribing the entirety of the football operations in that meeting Im simply saying there is more than enough blame to go around and making too much out of this meeting is looking for a simple fix to a Gordian knot of a problem.

I'm not pinning anything singularly on the fact he has Monday meetings with his coaches....but the Monday meetings are indeed PART of the puzzle of explaining what makes Tepper such a very bad owner.   He has been and remains too involved in the actual football component of what he owns.... and that is basically a consensus nationally and locally in regards to the Panthers.

Tepper meeting the HC each Monday is a symptom of the problem of him being overall involved in football decisions.  He is the reason why the Panthers are the worst team in the NFL and have been terrible ever since he bought the team.  The Weekly Meetings are a 'clue' as to what is really going on inside the building.

I get that

I just cant help but think thats low hanging fruit and that our issues run a whole lot deeper than simply an owner who doesnt behave like a Rooney/Kroenke/Craft/Hunt

I mean, it's Monday morning after another beatdown.  I can either make a dumb post about today's predictable bad meeting Canales is in store for....or talk in-depth about the game from Sunday (which I got little interest in doing).

The fact they are still having monday morning meetings is what DC deserves for signing up for this clown show.

My only question is who gets fired first because someone in that dumpster will be scapegoated soon.

That will probably be Evero. He was expected to take a D that lost Burns, Luvu and other guys and turn it into something great.

Maybe. Luvu didn't want to come back and Burns was replaced has 4 sacks halfway into the year at that price. The D guys since he showed up have been unimpressive for the most part. His guys the last 2 years also hasn't been stellar.

It does seem like the odd guy out but at this point I'm wondering if Dave is starting to not mind getting the boot either. It can't be a fun job on pretty much any level. There is also Caldwell as an easy target. I don't even know who would run the D, DC is having issues with the HC and OC duties might keep him around until black Friday.

He’s not grasping at all, there’s solid sources from inside that building that Tepper was pushing play calls and wanting plays added for the following week.

and I do mean solid sources, it’s not BS.

Tepper is just a god awful owner and till he steps back and lets the football people make the decisions solely without him or his wife having input… the team will continue to be god awful. Pretty simple actually.

    • I personally think you are trying to talk yourself into circles here... It's ok to say Bryce played incredible the last 5 weeks... I know there are plenty of people on this board who desperately need the doom-and-gloom narrative, but I genuinely question how much NFL QB play some of these people really have watched when they still question him being the unquestioned starter for next year...  Again, that being said, no one is crowning him at all. I think Bryce is one of the best stories going into 2025 bc his season last year was so outlandishly unprecedented. It's totally fair to personally not believe in Bryce. Plenty of sports "journalists" need to write stories, and that's an easy narrative path... But I think that actual people in the know rank Bryce much higher. That's the fun thing about sports... we shall see!
    • Regardless of how we got here, any rational fan should be excited by how well Bryce played down the stretch. Anyone not happy about that level of play either doesn't know what they're looking at, or they're still trying to drive tired narratives. Obviously, Cam had an all-time rookie season, and I'm not putting the two in the same basket yet, but as someone who has watched every snap of Panthers football since the start of the new millennium (Im old), Bryce was playing at a higher level at the end of 2024 than Cam was at the end of 2012 (his 2nd season). Cam continued to develop into MVP form, something Bryce has to prove, but as someone who watched both (and will stan for Cam always), Bryce was playing at a higher level to end year 2 than Cam did.  Go watch the film if you dont believe me. None of that means anything for the future. But the people who said BY9 couldnt play in this league are wrong.   That being said, the only thing that matters is this year. #20 is perfectly fair IMO going into the season. I mean think about it, how would you rank him??!  His in-season turnaround is one of the wildest things I've ever seen... how do you rank a guy who looked like a massive bust in September and by January was consistently playing at a top 10 level? My excitement level is pretty damn high heading into this season. There were throws from the Chiefs game onward where Bryce had Drew Brees levels of anticipation. Im excited to see what he can do with a full deck on offense, something we really never gave Cam. Really hope and expect Bryce to move up this list this season.
    • Not really, the only QB's (other than Anthony Richardson) ranked below him are new to their teams as a placeholder starter or drafted in 2024 or 2025, not a lot of gymnastics to get there. It's not about how many that is, if it's 20, 12, or 2... It means there isn't a QB who's team has committed to them for the long term right now that they have ranked below Bryce. That's not a great thing.
