That would be weird since Ikey has allowed one sack all season.

I think it's more he is getting a little more time and distance from his battering in 2023. That takes time to get over and continuing to get your brains bashed in makes it exponentially worse(see Carr, David).

That said, he still makes the occasional insane decision from a clean pocket.

I think it's more of Bryce starting to gain confidence in that the line is no longer the absolute sieve from the interior that it was last year. He can actually follow through on fundamentals without a guy coming right at his face. Makes the tackles look better because their QB isn't drifting back as much. 

Again, money well spent because interior pressure, regardless of QB, is the most consistent way of sabotaging any NFL offense. Should be obvious but the fastest way of getting to the QB/RB is a straight line. As a painful reminder, double A gap blitz in the Super Bowl.

Yeah, look at the one rep from Sunday when Mays got dog walked straight back by Lawrence. That is the poo that gets QB's rattled and flushed. 

This year those instances have been far rarer.

That's always going to happen from time to time. You just can't have that be the norm. I'm still miffed we didn't go for one of the centers last draft because that was a missed opportunity having a rookie getting the benefit of being sandwiched between two guys who know what they're doing.

The worst place to be was Vegas watching your backup kick ass and show the team how it is done where you were totally impotent. How embarrassing. That is a motivator, a little bit. Should be. 

 I can see he is trying to do what the job calls for and respect that.  

I think some of the reason he survived last season was he was defensive as hell and I also think he is gonna get whacked pretty good if he keeps stepping into his throws NFL QB style, trying to be one. But that's the job. Maybe not, maybe he'll be resilient.

Yeah, Mays is still a backup caliber player and Lawrence is an absolutely elite DT.

Frazier was the way. Most of our OL would have been locked down for multiple years.

      You joke, but hasn't basically the whole team been in Charlotte this past week together? I'm not one to see the random dumb stuff players put out on social media in the offseason and think it means that's ALL they've been doing and not working on their game.  But it's a little strange that all this is coming out at the same time we're seeing tons of stuff with the team in Charlotte together, even if it's just working out and not even official team OTA's or anything. So he gets a pass from me saying anything now, but if he doesn't show clear improvement this season, it then opens him up to some retroactive criticism for some things.

      Cam was hitting his stride as a QB in 2017/2018.     This is why I think stats like completion percentage are overrated. As long as a QB is clutch and makes the throws to win the game the rest doesn’t really matter. What good is a check down stat padder if they’re a choker.  Until Norv Turner (and briefly Chud) got here we put Cam in high pressure throwing situations all the time. We also ran the ball on first down more than most teams in the NFL in the Ron era. Coupled with shitty WRs, all that is expressed in his stats. I also assume Cam took the ball in his hands on many occasions rather than trust Funchess to catch the ball.    It was also never Cams job to play the game like someone else. His presence on the field dictated the game in a way that is rarely seen.  He showed he could play the dink and dunk game just before TJ Watt. That didn’t suddenly make him better than his earlier seasons. He just got put in a legit under center  passing game again for first time since his rookie year with Chud.    Ron took the quickest path to success and abused the RPO because his ass was about to get fired.    Cam never got the credit for being the cerebral player that he was. I just think when you are legitimately a human Superman, sometimes the best play is having the ball in your hands. He was a better passer than Delhomme was.
