instead they tried to reinvent the wheel and play him like he was Earl Thomas

they should have went the Thomas Davis route and bulked Chinn 10-15 pounds and convert him full time into a OLB, but obviously Chinn wouldn't work in Evero's 3-4

Could not agree more, he has the frame to add LB bulk. His biggest strength is playing near the LOS, great pursuit and closing speed. Man, it pains me that we let him go entering his prime, he signed a 1 year 4 mill contract. Ian Thomas, Shy Tuttle, Ashawn Robinson, Miles Sanders,  Josh Yijiam, etc so many over paid players and we don’t pay young talent.

He ain't singing another 1 year $4M deal. He needed to get out of here to show what he could do and he has. Now clue about the Commander's cap situation but they should lock him up.

Man watching this Thursday night game seeing Luvu and Chinn making plays constantly hurts. Honestly I have zero idea why we let both of them walk.

MF IAN THOMAS MAKES MORE THEN CHINN

Staring Episode 2 GIF by The Office

Luvu was smart to take the largest contract he could.

Chinn regressed year over year.

Chinn’s current stats are in line with his stats with Panthers before Evero arrived, and yes he regressed from his rookie year where he looked like a game changer. He is not putting up drastically different numbers now he just looks better on a winning team. We were all disappointed with his development even prior to Evero but he was definitely a misfit in the 3-4 defense.

Panthers coaches over the years have been notorious for their “square peg, round hole” approach to player development.  Chinn could’ve been really good in LB/S hybrid role here but we blew it. Both deserve the success they’re having in DC.

Because Chinn Is not a God Damn Free Safety! He is a Strong Safety/LB and none of our coaches could figure that out.

This ^ 💯 I never understood the dumbassery of playing him @ FS with his noted struggles in coverage. Why we stopped using him in the LB/S role he had under Snow is anyone’s guess.

The recipe over the last 5 years:

1. draft a guy with high athletic ability at a position of need.

2. play him out of his natural position because you have a big hole to fill.

3. watch him struggle.

4. let a young and promising talent grow depressed and apathetic because a God forsaken franchise is ruining what he has busted his ass his entire life to achieve.

The only reason Luke moved to the middle was because Beason got hurt. Think about that.

It’s complete arrogance of the coaching staff to tell a player where he’s better suited… or the mark of a desperate team who drafts out of need.

This is what happens to teams that draft poorly and have no depth. Constantly working from behind and drafting for need.

I was stating what he signed this offseason not what he is worth going forward?

Evero isn't nearly as good as some around here think. Playing Chinn at FS was a giant red flag. Dude took over a good D and it regressed while here he hasn't built anything for the next guy worth trying to prop up or anything much to blow up either. He is a jag coach and little more.

    • Just going off the draft sims and he's always sitting around 20 lol. First year in a while where we haven't been thinking about the draft already in late October so haven't really looked into the top 15-20 picks yet. Also the qb class is super weak so he probably will sneak up into 10-15
    • I fully expect them to pick up his 5th year , and they're waiting for him to put a full excellent consistent season of QB play in year 4 or 5. If that don't happen,  they'll eventually cut ties.  Here's to hoping he just goes on a team in 2026. The worst thing he could do is continue to see-saw us to around .500 records because it might be impossible to replace him at that point unless youre willing to do the veteran qb carousel poo we did from 2019 to 2023.
    • What do you think of Bryce Youngs career thus far? Are you excited about his progress or is it not enough for you? I included a poll of ranking his performance through 3 years thus far.  I personally think he's made some decent progress. Has had some high moments (last half of 2024, Rams game, ATL game in 2025)  but in my mind, those are still outweighed by the many more lowlights thus far (ex turnovers, missed throws, poor decisions)  It's a very mixed bag for me. He's done enough to get a 5th year option but by no means should we lock him in with a 50+ mil a year multi year deal. I want to see him play consistently well for a full year before that happens (yes, I'm still saying that going into year 4. That might be telling).  Just sucks when you see CJ Stroud, Jayden Daniel's, Caleb Williams almost immediately lighting poo up with their arm talent. Maybe Bryce is just an ultra slow burn. I don't know what to think anymore. Guess we're gonna be stuck with him for a whilr unless we end up being bad enough to earn a high pick next year. I doubted it lol. Overall Stats for his career:       ● 14 W - 30L (regular season)       ● 0-1 playoffs record        ● 61.4% completion, 8291 passing yards, 49 TDs, 30 INTs  Year 1:       ● 2 wins, 14 losses      ● 60% completion rate, 2877 passing yards, 11 TD to 10 INTs, 5.5 yards per attempted pass Year 2:        ● 4 wins , 8 losses        ● 60.9% completion rate,  2403 passing yards, 15 TD, 9 INTs,  6.3 yards per attempted pass  Year 3:        ● 8 Wins, 8 Losses         ● 63.6% competition rate, 3011 passing yards, 23 TDs to 11 INTs  Playoffs         ● 1 game in year 3 ( 0 - 1 in playoffs)         ● 21/40 (52.5% completion rate), 264 passing yards, 1 TD, 1 INT.
