I was a Bryce stan, loved the draft pick. Transitioned over 2023 to a firm believer that he was never going to be an NFL starting caliber QB. Now I am just waiting and seeing.

Glad to have him start to win me back. It's nice to not be a complete laughingstock.

That's one that that people have largely missed. The national media as moved on from us being the NFL laughingstock. That's impressive.

Yeah we are getting respect from the Nat'l media even with these losses. We are competitive for a change and we doing it vs legit playoff teams.

Get Bryce a true #1 WR and fix the defense and we should be on the right track especially in this weak division.

I think the headline is making people think it says something different than it does... It does say not to judge either player by their rookie year, tho. But it says this:

"None of this means that the Young versus Stroud debate should be completely reborn. Stroud remains the superior player and will likely remain so unless something drastically changes.

However, Young has looked like he has the tools to be a solid quarterback in the NFL over the past six weeks – as long as he continues to improve. And Stroud still possesses the mechanics to become a top player in the NFL – just not in Year 2."

I would say the author should have chosen a better title.

Regardless I still take issue with some of the logic. Particularly with saying don't judge them on their rookie seasons. That's just a little too convenient for me considering the stark contrast between them and the current case being made. I have no idea what Stroud or Young will go on to do for the rest of their respective careers but between the two of them at this point in time Bryce is the one who will have to do everything not only really well but with a little more on top to slam the door shut on those first 18 or so games that were at times historically bad.

after the short into, first item is this

Props that Pop: Don't be shocked by a big day for Panthers vs. Cowboys

QB Props:   Bryce Young OVER 19.5 completed passes (Even)

Loza: Young is by no means an efficient passer, but his completion percentage has improved since being reinstalled as the team's starter in Week 8. The second-year signal-caller has additionally managed at least 19 completions for three straight games since the Carolina Panthers' Week 11 bye. In fact, he recorded exactly 19 completions while facing a stout Philadelphia Eagles defense that has allowed the fifth-lowest completion percentage thus far in 2024.

Young's odds of improving on that total are high, given this week's matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. Dallas' secondary got Trevon Diggs back last Monday, but the defense simultaneously lost emerging star linebacker DeMarvion Overshown. The compromised pass rush figures to work in Young's favor.

Bryce Young OVER 14.5 rushing yards (-125)

While Young's success as a passer is all the rage recently, the Carolina Panthers QB has quietly been running the ball more willingly -- and successfully -- and has been over this number in each of his past four contests. Now he gets a Dallas Cowboys team giving up 24.4 rushing yards per game to opposing quarterbacks, second only to the Cincinnati Bengals for the worst number in football (and by 0.1 yards at that). By yards per rush surrendered (5.7), they're fourth worst.

Some of those numbers are inflated because of the quarterbacks the Cowboys have faced this season, a list that includes Jalen Hurts, Lamar Jackson, Justin Fields and Jayden Daniels. But Drew Lock, Deshaun Watson, C.J. Stroud and Brock Purdy all cleared this number against Dallas as well, and those are quarterbacks closer to the Young mold -- decently mobile, though not considered elite dual threats.

There's some concern that the Panthers won't need to drop back much against the Cowboys and their dreadful rush defense, but I do think Dallas is playing better against the run as of late. And the Panthers defense is so poor that it's unlikely this game becomes a blowout. (Imagine that! A Panthers blowout!) There should be enough opportunities for Young that he gets the two or three scampers he needs to clear this number.

Agreed. I want to win games but I really, really want McMillian or Graham. I think they will solve a lot of issues. Hunter is a pipe dream.

Media doesn't give 2 shits about the Panthers. They only care about clicks and what Bryce is doing right now generates clicks. I guarantee you if he has a bad game or 2 he will disappear back into the media cobwebs.

I think it's all relative and the headline was certainly chosen to garner attention and controversy. Young is closing the gap - because the gap was "elite, top of NFL QB vs complete bust.". Just how journalism goes, for better or worse.

Actively rooting for a QB to fail. I can see why you're just a college fan. You care nothing about the Panthers.

It's okay to be wrong about Bryce. I thought he was done just like you. Then he started playing better and doing it vs the better teams in football. If you can't respect then you never will.

Bryce Up Son!

I'm not rooting for him to fail. I'm just far from convinced that he's the answer. Let's see how he plays in some meaningful games first. He's looking a lot better as of late. That's a start. But a couple of good games when we're near the bottom of the league isn't going to make up for a whole lot of playing like trash.

I might be in the minority but I'd be happy if both young and stroud succeed.

Last year it looked like we missed bad when we picked young over stroud. Which hurt. But now they're both showing future promise even tho stroud is stumbling a bit.

Stroud being bad doesn't make the trade better to me. Young being good does. I would love it if they both become legit nfl qbs forever tied together by the draft and dueling for years to come.

Hoping stroud sucks and the anger that comes with is not worth it.

Thats the path to the dark side.

Calm down bro, you'll fall right off the wagon again the next bad game he has. Some of us don't have wild emotional swings because we don't have the mentality of a 13 year old girl.

That doesn't mean you stubbornly refuse to acknowledge that he has been playing much better the last several games.  That's just as bad.

With one of the worst rosters in the league?

I like that we are competitive vs playoff caliber teams with a limited roster. The only way to get talent is position yourself to get the top pick. We are doing fine by staying competitive and still losing.

The media is respecting us for how well we have been playing even in the losses.

Agreed.  He's been one of the best players on the team since the benching.   All the people who are determined to be right about him being bad will quote record or stats but if you watch the tape and see the windows he's hitting and how he's anticipating them, they would see while not perfect, he's doing a lot with a little.

    • They had best show out in Week 1 there are zero,I mean zero,  excuses for that offense  defense, haven’t play together yet and they still have Mr Soft and Predictable as DC  I expect break downs at times  …but that offense returns all starters except Tremble and both Mayes and Brady are veterans and can play LG and know the system not up for any participation awards this season they can save that practice energy for Jacksonville.     I’m sick of the, winning,  or looking competitive, when it doesn’t matter.
    • There are some tough decisions that I'm eager to see the results of... Does Blackshear sneak on to the roster as RB4? Does the team go with 4 TEs or just 3 again? And has Mitchell Evans done enough to defend his roster spot from James Mitchell? Who is WR6 and is there a WR7? TMac, XL, Coker, and AT seem to be locks imo and I'm assuming Renfrow also makes it due to all of the camp praise. Who makes it between Brycen Tremayne, Jimmy Horn Jr, and David Moore? If the team goes with 7 WRs, which one of those three doesn't make it? Jacolby George and Emani Bailey both have not gotten a lot of game time. Could the Panthers be trying to hide them so that they can be stashed on the PS? Do they go with 10 OL instead of 9? Who makes it out of Walton, Carter, and Kingston? DL locks are DB, BB3, ARob, and Turk. That leaves Jaden Crumedy, Cam Jackson, Sam Roberts, Shy Tuttle, and LaBryan Ray all competing for the final 1 - 3 spots. Does DJ Johnson get IR'd and Thomas Incoom make the roster as EDGE5? What in the fuuuuuuuuuuuuck is going to happen at LB? Only locks are Wallace, Rozeboom, and Cherelus (Wallace has mentioned in media how Cherelus has been big bro for him on the team) seem to be locks. Rhattigan had some good moments against Houston, Martin-Scott is an SC guy, Krys Barnes has popped on defense and on special teams, and Windmon got time starting for the team last season. Are two of those guys going to make it or are the Panthers poaching from another team's cuts? CB5... who is it? Do they go with the 4 expected safeties or bring in a 5th? Has Ransom done enough to take the start from Nick Scott?
    • I had this discussion with my buddy yesterday afternoon. If we start this season very slow(especially with the schedule being what it is) and then "rally" in the second half to get to 4-7 wins, I am already gonna be pretty heated at the staff overall. I know we are a very bad roster but I am not gonna keep excusing these slow season starts WITH late season rallies. That's a coaching staff problem, IMO. It's more excusable to just stink gate to gate, IMO. At least you can understand why.
