Time to draft a running back?

Ok who do you think will be available on Day 3?

Good question and I’ll be more up on it when we know who enters the draft. I would think anyone eligible as RB is not a position that you risk going back to school.

I will say that while Skattebo was fun to watch in college, I don’t think he’s an NFL RB. He was so worn down facing NFL quality DL that I wouldn’t touch him unless he knocks the combine out of the park. I don’t think he’d make a full NFL season as a lead back.

I will watch the combine to see who impresses. Henderson from OSU, Moss from Texas A&M and Neal from Kansas are all RBs I have seen a bit of that could be decent compliments to Chuba if they drop into day 3. Not too sure about Judkins, it just seems like Henderson just produces more when I’ve seen him and I think Judkins is ranked higher. The rest of the RBs will go too early for us to pick given we did invest in Brooks or are RBs I’ve never seen. We do have to give Brooks a shot because we aren’t playoff bound in 2025, but we also need to realize he may never be who we hoped and Chuba needs someone to help.

One guy I was interested in is going back to school Jayden Ott from Cal had an injury plagued year this year so he’s going back to school. Might not be the best idea as RB shelf life isn’t long but he likely would have dropped to 6-7 round. With all of our extra picks, might have been a nice flyer based off his freshman and sophomore years.

This is a super deep RB draft. Getting one that is BPA on our board in the mid to late rounds isn’t out of the question. Sanders will/should be gone. Brooks on extended IR. Need Hubbard insurance.

4th to 7th rounds - sure why not.

Oh yes we saw how that worked out last week against one of the worst defenses in football. GTFOH

We literally just paid a RB who's damn good. We drafted a RB in the 2nd round last draft. Now you're suggesting we draft another RB.

If this isn't insanity I don't know what else is. RB is near the bottom of my list in terms of concern. People suggesting a all defense draft yet you in here pushing for a damn RB after we just paid Chuba smh.

Nah son you GTFOH!

Brooks doesn't exist at this point in terms of 2025.  Really, he doesn't even count at all given the injuries.  He is not in the random dude that might one day recover and be ok.   That's barely playing football for a very long time at that point.

We need more than Hubbard.

Yeah I'm kind of with you on this one. Someone to fill in as backup rb for one year shouldn't be a priority on a team with this many holes to fill, especially when Chuba has shown to be a capable workhorse. I could be on board with maybe a 6th or 7th rounder for someone with a 3rd round grade but not much more than that. Would be smarter to just workout a bunch of UDFA RBs and pick the training camp/preseason standout to be your short term backup.

You get it. Suggesting a RB is borderline insanity. We just wasting picks if that's the case. So what do we do with Brooks when he comes back the following season?

Like cmon people think this stuff out.

My goodness!

We need more than Hubbard who's arguably a top 5 RB. So you want to spend another draft pick on yet another RB to backup a top 5 RB.

I don't get it. I just don't get it.

    • I'm not to sure it's a solid argument to try to estimate what he will do this season, BUT he's had a solid 3 years in the league. Here's his numbers compared to Jewell's for the same time period. I can see the logic of getting a starting MLB for a (at best) WR4. AT, XL and Tmac are certainly our top 3 guys IN 2025. Certainly worth pondering.
    • Training camp just started and it's already starting... https://www.facebook.com/reel/24277303321904901/?mibextid=rS40aB7S9Ucbxw6v LOL No one believes you and you have fan pages sharing this with a "Play him or trade him" headline. Oh wee mayne. This is why no front offices wanted any part of this.
    • Honestly, it only makes sense if you're trying to chase being the best bad team you can be this year. The number one question we need answered this season is whether or not Bryce is our long-term franchise QB. Trading away a second year WR who was second on the team in catch percentage, first in yards per target, and who clearly outplayed your 1st round pick for a likely one year rental fill in LB is exactly the type of short sighted desperation moves that has made us the worst franchise in the league under Tepper. We gotta stop making these types of moves and just focus on building a good organization and a good roster. Lloyd is a JAG LB another bad team and awful defense is wavering on and a couple of Panthers fans are salivating over him. Oof. We just need to be patient and wait. Definitely make some calls around the league to teams deep at LB and see if there's an opportunity to add one for a late round pick. Definitely shop the waiver wire hard. The reality is that LB is almost certainly going to be a weakness for us this year. We weren't fixing our entire roster in one off-season and we're not fixing an overall weak positional group in late July.  If you trade for Lloyd LB is still a weakness and you've given up a young promising WR who could potentially help you answer the question of whether or not Bryce is that guy. That's bad football business.
