Week 18 Game Thread: Cats vs Birds

Recommended Posts

After watching Bryce improve as much as he did this year, it makes Reich look that much worse. That idiot insisted on running his O and couldn't care less what his players were capable of.

His coaching career should be over, who would hire that idiot now?

I think this just solidifies even more how much we NEED to focus on D this offseason... (not that most anyone disagrees)

BY just finding the open guy at all times. And Coker with the high effort plays, great catches in traffic, etc...

I was honestly happy to see Canales not get cute. He just kept with what was working and Atlanta didn't stop it. So many coaches outthink themselves and lose games; Canales did not do that today.

Man, what a crazy game!  The Panthers offense had to be nearly perfect.  Atlanta didn't punt.  Way to play!

The draft with be the draft.  Whatever.

I'm so happy to end the season with a win.  Yeah, we still have a lot of weak areas, but this is one heck of a way to send the Falcons home.  I'll take it!

I assume there goes Carter and Graham now or do we still have a shot at one of them

the draft is both predictable and unpredictable. a lot can change from now until april. undisclosed injuries discovered, measurables not living up, deeper tape study on these prospects. Every year some guys move up the ladder and go down. so anything is possible!

No one can deny Young finished the year with a bang. 5 iwins with this defense says something being right where most thought was a reasonable first year for Canales.

Probably his best game of his career, too. Play calling was on point.

No way. Only way to find quality players is to have the best draft picks EVER!!!!!

This! You can build a SB offense with day 3 & undrafted players. Just use patience to select the rare freak or pedigree offensive player like Randy Moss or CMC in the 1st round. Ride a vet 28 to 32 yr old QB. When the defense is loaded with young talent, go after a luxury 1st rd QB pick like Mahomes or Roethlisberger if the vet QB can't get it done in the playoffs. This has been the championship formula for decades that the Bill Walsh tree keeps rolling out.

I can’t say enough about what coker has become for us. Amazing.

its not easy to carve a starting role as a udfa. Especially in your rookie year. Im sure that says more about our roster not having talent but the young man has shown up.

    • Biiiiiig eyeroll on this.  First, Look at historical stats of the most recent historical great DBs.  I plucked 3, Revis, Sherman, and Norman (cuzz he was our guy).  Combined post age 30, there are TWO pro bowls between those 3 and wanna get this...ZERO seasons with 16 games started.  ALL missed time.  It is RARE that Corners survive that long in the NFL and its about time we started recognizing this fact.  Jaycee is a good bet because it hasnt been anything seriously devastating injury wise, and with his sample size he could and should be an incredible piece for the panthers through age 30. Jaire kinda flops on the other side, hes 28...so hes under 30, but he wants his payday before it comes up, hes also been injury prone lately.  Bulk of the contract will be on opposite side of 30.  Will both of these guys help us be better in 2026?  SURE!  No doubt, but the question is, will these guys help us past 2026...not sure. The investment isnt worth the risk, nor would the ROI be anywhere close to worth it.  Neither guy is moving us from a 6-8 win team to a 8-10 team, period. My point is we're in this state a 6-8 win team IMO and he projects us as  a 4-6 win team.  EVEN if we think Jaire or Ramsey will make us a 6-8 win team, it in NO WAY is worth the money or capital to move that much just to suck kinda less.
    • I assumed he was retiring but apparently he plans on playing multiple more seasons.  Florida is gonna have trouble holding onto everyone.  Happens to all teams that have that much success.
    • I hate Marchand, but if he became a free agent.....
