You are saying what I am saying, BTW. Those were all Raider sources and nothing close to Johnson. That was always my argument about that fake narrative.

Fowler, Breer and Russini aren't Raider sources. Also followed Schefter, Jonathan Jones, Florio and others. Don't necessarily try to post all the links anymore since it's become a huge pain in the ass 😒

As an aside, Aaron Wilson used to be one of the best national sources but he's fallen off for some reason.

For Chicago news, I generally look to Brad Biggs. Vic Tafur is a good one for the Raiders. Also Vincent Bonsingiore from the Vegas Review Journal. Those guys are basically the equivalent of people like Mike Kaye

A lot of what I saw from the Chicago side came from a local guy named Jacob Infante who was pretty openly rooting for the Bears to get Johnson but fearing they wouldn't. He's not as connected as someone like Biggs, but he was pretty active.

Breer is saying Johnson had his eye on the Bears since last offseason.

I could not buy the raiders. NO ONE should want that job. Every team has a legit HC, young QB, and good defense. AVOID THAT JOB AT ALL COST!!

It isn't debatable. The Bears have a substantially better roster, they have a potentially franchise QB on a rookie deal and a not idiot owner. Those are all advantages over Vegas. Literally the only "media" advantage was Brady as part owner but being a great player may have nothing to do with that. See Jordan, Michael.

I think you're being overly kind but that's fine to have a difference of opinion. I'm of the opinion that the Bears ownership while they are not Mark Davis they are not a significant upgrade either.

Now the roster is a different topic that has a lot of potential but let's not act like they have a franchise QB just yet. Caleb Williams was at times horrendously bad like worse than even Bryce when he was struggling and for all the criticisms of Bryce our locker room didn't fall apart like it did with Caleb Williams.

I get the sense some of you got a hard on for Ben Johnson and that's cool I guess but I prefer the Bears to be a dumpster fire I despise that franchise as much as the Broncos now. They can get fuged.

Breer, Fowler and others confirmed Johnson had genuine interest.

Truth is we all say that sort of thing about teams like the Raiders, the Browns, the Jets, etc. But someone always takes those jobs, and it's frequently a prime candidate.

Even the worst team in the NFL is still an NFL team.

An article with some of the highlights...

ESPN Article sheds embarrassing light on Bears internal operations

The original article by Kalyn Kahler at ESPN...

How agents impact coaching searches, and why the NFL cares

Haven't read it yet, but several people are saying it puts the McCaskeys in a pretty bad light.

4 GM's and 6 head coaches since 2011. Yeah I'd have to say that definitively sounds dysfunctional. And we should know a thing or two about that given our...ahem...experience under David Tepper.

Apparently they hired several folks represented by a former Bear turned agent in Trace Armstrong.

As I understand it, the article talks about Armstrong having a lot of influence despite lousy results.

We know Ben Johnson wants a ton of control over roster decisions. I'm sure Chicago relinquished that.

I get it on his part. Caleb Williams has been the "Andrew Luck" prospect for years now. Not shocking that Ben wanted that guy. I also do think the Bears roster is a lot better than our roster, not that we should be comparing anyway.

Here's hoping we make everyone of those deep dish mfers regret that trade.

I was a little surprised to see that comment above so did some googling... Apparently some analysts did label Williams as generational but the agreement was not there like it was for Luck and Lawrence.

It's been said quite a bit.

    • 6 pages of tuka and Seltzer arguing is actually 97 pages long
    • 100%. And these same people will claim you have an agenda. You can't have it every way. We had the lowest rated defense in the league last year. Statistically the worst ever. By PFF grades (for whatever that's worth- but they are readily accepted, used, and conveyed by most "reputable" sources), the defense was the worst ever. Not only that, PFF rated our receiving corp the worst in football last season. The absolute worst... out of 32 teams. Which is why regardless of the lip service Canales and Morgan paid to the current guys, they knew it would be criminal not to give Bryce more help. People fixating on team stats and not taking these things into context are stupid, plain and simple, and I'm for one thankful they're not running this team (or probably anything for that matter bc they obviously can't discern reality. Again, going back to the eyeball test these Narrative Nancies seem to hate so much, did they not see the windows Bryce was putting balls into? Have the generally not watched much NFL? Please, please show me the film where all these NFL QBs are making throws like this to this point Bryce was "below average" down the stretch compared to them. Bryce made more wow throws in that 3 game stretch of the Bucs, Chiefs, and Eagles than every other QB combined in all the years since since Cam got hurt I genuinely am baffled by people that can watch throws like that and act like it's nothing. I guarantee you Steve Spagnola, Todd Bowles, and and Vic Fangio didn't think it was nothing after watching the little guy torch them with players those teams would be embarrassed to trot out at the skill position players. The national media spent all year making excuses for Mahomes not having elite weapons when he had multiple 1st & 2nd round talents at the skill positions along with future HoFers in Kelce and Hopkins. Bryce wasn't throwing for 300 yards every week with David Moore and Adam Theilen in spite of jaw dropping throws and you want to say the guy played below average. For those people, again, we ain't watching the same sport. And the name calling doesn't change that... The vitriol and projection... it's off the effing charts with these people.
    • "Well you see if you remove this terrible game that terrible game this other terrible game and then focus on these games you'll see he's actually one of the better QB's in the league and he's actually as good as Jayden Daniels". My god this place is delusional. I love it.
