What's your confidence level in Canales?

This was quite literally Morgan’s first offseason calling the shots. He had input before but that’s different from being the shot caller. Now he’s got those 20 inch blades on the impala.

We don’t know what he will do, or how he may give more input from Canales regarding offensive picks moving forward.

trust the process.

I agree with you - that's why I said wait and see...

Seems to be a lot of positivity and a lot of chances to earn your shot. That can go a long way in building a team that has forgotten how to win.

And honestly, they are showing more grit than I gave them credit for.

I have got to, got to, got to see some massive improvement on the defense, though.

Get us into the playoffs next season in a shaky NFCSouth and he's our dude, yanno?

The head coach builds the culture--I like the positivity--lotta ups and downs during a season, and football is very mental.  Bryce fed off the positivity, I have no doubt.  We finished the last 9 games 4-5 and almost beat KC, Philly, and TB during that stretch.  You can SEE when the players started buying in.

This is where I'm at with Canales. Players didnt quit down the stretch and thats a ringing endorsement for him.

Morgan did pretty good in FA last offseason shoring up the Oline... last years draft is still a big question mark tho.  How he addresses the defense this offseason will tell us a lot.

Overall I am optimistic.  We finally have some continuity with the staff and roster.  If they can get rid of the dead weight and add some talent we could have a competitive team next year.

7/10 is appropriate. He is doing some great stuff with play calling. You all wanted a young offensive mind, now you are saying he needs to not call plays. That is nonsense and there are a plethora of coaches that have won that way calling either their offensive or defensive systems full time. He made Bryce look competent after benching and then confident by the end of season. The last three points are for defense which can be remedied by moving on from Evero. Don't get me wrong, they missed a lot of production from guys being hurt and lost to free agency. But right now he has the stats to move on to a different coordinator where he can turn that side of the ball over to him. The culture has changed here and the biggest reason I know is J. Clowney. I have rarely seen that dude enjoy football as much as he did this year. Optimist bully!

I am 100% confident in Canales. That doesn’t mean if he stinks it up next year somehow I will stubbornly stick to my guns, but he helped Bryce become a solid starting QB. He’s a miracle worker as far as I’m concerned.

He somehow got Young to finally believe in himself. The kid has always been able to play like this. It was when he came here that things went off the rails. Dave somehow got Bryce to forget all of that and be who he is with some minor adjustments here and there.

There's a couple little pussies on here that constantly bitch because he is Christian that will tell you they don't approve but those opinions are from pussies and in my own little mind pussies don't deserve a voice or opinion anyhow. Me being of no faith at all and hoping not as big a pussy as those other two wimps so coming from a purely unbiased place..... I would give Canales a 6-7 on a 1-10 scale. He needs to work on a few things such as I believe hire a coordinator that he can trust to call plays for him so he just leads and some other items. I do have confidence in him that he can turn out to be a good coach. He isn't as fuging dumb as Matt Rhule or throw others under the bus as Matt Rhule likes to do so he does have my respect there. He has some sort of emotions and doesn't look like a corpse out there as Reich did so there's that too but I guess my standards are very low these days. The mother fuger can go to church all he wants or not, I don't really give a damn as long as he steadily improves this team. He has partially improved Bryce to where I believe he deserves another year to see if he can continue to grow and I didn't think anyone could help Bryce so that's a positive too I guess. He has hope which I guess is what im getting at.

    • overall agree on the draft grade as a whole on on each pick, but every time I read (and I have read it more than once) that we "gave up two firsts" for Bryce, I am confused. We gave up the 2024 first, but we swapped 2023 firsts, so we didn't give up anything there. We did give up our former first rounder in DJ, but I don't think thats what you mean as one of the "firsts" we gave up.
    • Didn't  see this posted (since 2023) but since folks have been posting that you can't judge a draft class for three years (a ridiculous take), I thought I'd post this to see what people thought about the 2023 draft. Unfortunately this may not be the most interesting class to do this with but I do quite like retrospective draft grades. Would appreciate other's takes on this (and other recent) draft classes.   1(1) - Bryce Young QB: I am a bigger Bryce Young apologist than most (maybe all). I like the kid. But there is no way around it: This was a terrible pick. If he had been picked in the 4th or even the 3rd round I would feel pretty good about it. But this was the first overall pick that we gave up two firsts, our best offensive player to get.  GRADE: C -    2(39) - Jonathan Mingo WR: not much to say here here. He was here for two years. His yards per catch are on par with Bryce's yards per pass. Rough stuff. To date he has still never scored a touchdown in the NFL GRADE: F   3(80) - DJ Johnson OLB: a pick I hated as soon as it happened and an example of why the premise of this thread is honestly dumb. This was a bad pick when it happened. Most people knew it.  Then came training camp and he did not look good. Then came the preseason which confirmed what we saw in TC. Then came the season which confirmed what we saw in preseason. To date, he has half a sack in his career. GRADE: F 4 (114) Chandlers Zavala G: Honestly the best pick of this draft which really speaks to how awful this draft is. Other than Bryce, the only pick still on the team. He is mostly average or below average depth which in round 4 is not terrible. But he had a pff score of 43.5 and though I think people have unrealistic expectations for draft picks, I still would want a little more from a fourth round pick GRADE: C+   5 (145) - Jammie Robinson S: I liked the pick when it happened but ended up being a disappointment. He logged 1 tackle with the falcons last year and not enough snaps to get a grade on PFF.  GRADE: F OVERALL DRAFT GRADE: F
