Maybe somewhere in the middle of the 2nd round there's a team that will view the board and not see great value there for them and they don't see a huge drop off in talent moving down to #57 to pick up an extra mid-round pick or two while on our board we have a prospect circled that just glaringly shouldn't still be on the board per our evaluation and prospect rankings.

Not disagreeing with you, but maybe our front office should stop listening to that little voice lol.  We're always wrong.

I mean, we have just been drafting terribly for years no matter what we do. But as long as you're in the job you gotta do what you see as the best path forward.

Imagine if the Bucs had that mentality and passed on Mike Evans to take Brandin Cooks because 4.33 sure is a lot faster than 4.53.

Evan’s looked far more fluid than Tmac, coming out. To me Tmac has a lumbering gate. He has an insane catch radius. But to me looks much slower than 4.53.

I see a lot of people making the T-Mac to Drake London comp but...

IMO, Mike Evans is the comp.

Stats never tell a full story but my point is that Evans and T-Mac were DOMINANT college WRs. London was a good college WR that got over drafted in an overall way over-hyped WR draft class.

It’s their play style. Near mirror one another, super similar. The way they run, how they fight DBs. Similar to Michael Pittman as well, but not as muscle bound. Honestly, surprised USC didn’t recruit him at all.

Yeah I more or less agree. TMac is an awesome prospect. If the elite defensive guys are gone, hop on TMac or Tyler Warren without much hesitation.

It is mid February---so happy Valentine's Day Verge--now, to the issue:  As of right now, with Daniel Jeremiah claiming that there are 24 starting DTs in this draft--you look to trade back--my theory is a team looking for an offensive tackle might want to move up; a good team might want Jeanty and be willing to move up as well.  If not, I think the choice is going to come down to TMac (WR) or Will Johnson (CB).  Mykel Williams (Edge) or Jalon Walker (LB/Edge) might get some love if Evero sees a way he can use their versatility. Some think TE Tyler Warren too, but I just watched some highlights--He's no Brock Bowers who went 12th last year.

That's when trades happen. It's all situational.

Ask yourself this question, based on our trade history on draft day and our history of day 2 picks, do you really trust this front office to make a deal to move up and grab the right player? If the Panthers decide to move up to grab a guy the first thing in my mind is "this guy is going to be a jag"

If a team feels like there isn't a big talent drop off moving down to the end of round 2, then may be we should use similar logic.

I'm of the opinion we can find a defensive starter in rounds 1, 2, and 3 if we just stay put, and also find a prospect in round 4 to play center.

I'd could understand moving down from 8 to the mid teens to pick up an extra 2nd or 3rd, but outside of that I'd be afraid to make a big deal on draft day to move up.

I wouldn't hate the pick, especially as the players mentioned above are gone.

Also wouldn't mind trading the pick for G. Wilson if the Jets want to entertain.  I'd do that for a proven commodity.   But if the Jets are moving from Rodgers/Adams which rumors are saying they are, they probably want to keep him to build around.

I mean would it be better to draft TMac and use the money we would spend on someone like Higgins on an edge rusher FA or something like that?

We need a true deep threat. Not a 50/50 jump ball guy.

I swear to god, this has been said so many times by people on here, and I have to call it out for what it is, utter and complete nonsense.

This isn't even me pushing for my guy again, it's just dumb.

Bryce doesn't have a cannon for an arm, he literally couldn't even properly take advantage of the type of player you're talking about here if he wanted to.  If you want to say we need an uber quick fast twitch WR to get the ball into their hands and let their speed make plays, that's totally fair.

But to say we need that true speedster deep threat (and I know you didn't include "speedster" but if you're saying "true deep threat" instead of a "jump ball guy" it's clearly what you mean) is just nonsense when our QB has probably the weakest arm of any starting QB (and again, think what you will about Bryce's potential, that's just an indisputable fact).

Honestly, I have no idea what people are watching when they say stuff like this

Basically every single "expert analysis" of T-Mac as a prospect talks about how he's surprisingly fluid and a threat after the catch for a player of his size.  If you want to talk about his speed and how fast/slow he looks to you, that's something I can't knock as yes, his overall speed is his one main weakness.

But to say Evans looked more fluid than T-Mac is again, just literal nonsense, everything else you think about him as a prospect aside.

Check out the game by game breakdowns this past year for TMac.  He feasted on bad competition like UNM with 304 yards and 4 TDs then went 7 straight games without a TD. He broke 100 receiving yards in 5 of the 12 games he played.  The only concern I have is him disappearing in some games.  One report is he was playing hurt and I know his QB play was pretty bad.  He just isn't as strong of a prospect as Evans was IMO.  That doesn't mean he won't be great in the NFL.

    • After Bountygate and the information that came out on the Saints owners shielding pedophile priests in New Orleans it will forever be the Saints numero uno for me. FUG THE SAINTS! I hope this is just the beginning of a long term period of suffering for that shitty organization run by even shittier human beings. #2.Pats/Belicheat #3. Falcons (Mike Vick years then Matt Ryan/Julio running it up) Ryan pooping his pants and 28-3 def makes my bad days always better just thinking of those. #4 Pretty much any franchise fan base thats obnoxious Steelers, Eagles, Bills, Jets, Giants, Cowboys, etc.
    • Thank God DM used that #8 pick on a bona fide WR1 and not some bum pass rushing prospect like Stewart or someone else. I believe Tet is legit WR1 material and going forward will be our long term answer at that position since we desperately were in need of one once they traded away DJ Moore.  Tet could possibly end up even being better long term than someone who I respect a ton as a WR in Moore. Evans has been a pleasant surprise and great TE/FB depth piece going forward who could make the most of his opportunities.  Any good offense worth a damn in the NFL has 3 TEs that can do multiple things and being scared by Ian Thomas play for years should makes us all appreciate what Evans is quietly doing as a ROOKIE at one of the hardest positions to learn at the pro level.  Keep cooking DM. This season is not over obviously but seeing some growth out of young talent finally is a breathe of fresh fuggin air for once.
    • Saw this show up in my new feed. Nice to see a couple of our rookies making it into the top 5 so far, even if it is a pff measure... From https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-top-15-rookies-week-9-2025 ... 4. TE Mitchell Evans, Carolina Panthers (78.7) Evans struggled in the Panthers’ tight win over the Packers, finishing with a 41.8 PFF overall grade — third worst among tight ends this week. He was not targeted in the game and played only one snap in pass protection. He did log 15 run-blocking snaps, and although he earned a 68.9 PFF run-blocking grade in zone looks (seven snaps), his 39.0 mark in gap schemes (second worst for the week) dragged him down to a 46.6 PFF run-blocking grade overall — sixth worst for the week. Despite seeing zero targets over his past two games, Evans still leads the Carolina tight end group with a 74.3 PFF receiving grade. He has caught all nine of his targets for 90 yards, six first downs and two touchdowns. Evans also leads the Panthers’ tight end group in PFF run-blocking grade (72.2). He has recorded a 20.5% positive play rate across 175 snaps.  5. WR Tetairoa McMillan, Carolina Panthers (78.6) McMillan had a better day against the Packers, recording four catches for 46 yards. Most of that production came in the first quarter via two 16-yard catches — one of which he snatched from Carrington Valentine’s hands, who was in perfect position to break up the pass. McMillan accounted for three first downs on the day, although Green Bay was able to limit his impact after the catch, holding him to 0.8 yards after the catch per reception. McMillan now has 41 catches for 558 yards — a top-15 mark. He is also tied for second with 19 explosive gains of 15-plus yards. Three of McMillan’s catches against the Packers came between the numbers, bringing him to 22 for 318 yards and 19 first downs (tied for second most) this season. He owns a 26.1% threat rate and a 76.6 PFF receiving grade between the numbers. He also ranks in the top 10 in explosive gains (10) and yards after the catch per reception (5.5) within that area of the field.
