Do we really want a true #1 WR?

2021 (59) 2d round Terrace Marshall

2023 (39) 2d round Jonathan Mingo

2024 (32) 1st round Xavier Legette

Please tell this team to stop fishing for a WR 1 with early picks. They go for big straight line speed guys who have trouble finding separation. Find a high production quality route runner in the later rounds.  Give X a chance to improve and pair him w/ a later round starter.

I think BY needs a top tier pass-catcher, its cheaper to use either the 8th on Tmac or 57th on a fallen TE like Elijah Arroyo...

This is ATs last year but all accounts of team leave readers, now you'd have to pray/hop sanders, Coker, and XL reach top tier status.........I want to increase the odds....

We keep drafting speed and trying to make WRs out of them. I think we need WRs not just guys who do well at the underwear Olympics.

We chase speed without quickness.  They draft like fans who fall in love with the 40.  Noone we ever draft does shuttle or cone.

Personally I think we need more Adam Thielen's. Kupp would be nice. Guys who can run but know how to get open and move the chains.  Coker will be nice with another year under his belt. I would rather have a great TE who can catch and run with Adam, Coker and a Kupp like WR, along with X. Heck Lockett would be an upgrade from David Moore.

IMO, as a guy that wants McMillian if he is at 8, there shouldn't be anyone in this top 10 we should be hyperfocused on if they fall minus perhaps Hunter.

Trade down or BPA it up. Don't be stupid. Don't pine to be the smartest guy in the room. Just get a good fuging player. Simple as that.

The whole idea behind drafting Bryce was that he'd be a distributor so we wouldn't need one. That's how they justified trading our #1 WR to get him. I don't believe the passing game is so bad that we should be abandoning that already, especially now that Bryce is finally coming along. Coker looks good, XL is far from a lost cause, we still have Theilen as some extra insurance. They should draft a burner in the early rounds but it doesn't need to be the first pick.

What a dumb thread. Did you not want Steve smith?? A true 1 opens up the whole offense for other players. Takes away doubles and coverages.  Guys like 17 and others will have easier 1-1 matchups.  DK helps in the run game.   That like saying, do we really want a QB1??   This fanbase is pistol whipped from bad years that dumb thoughts travel to this board.

Well we also drafted Smith as a KR/PR in the 3rd round.

We also signed Coker as a UDFA to be on our PS, basically.

Maybe we just aren't that good at seeing who a #1 WR is?

To that note.......have you watched a lot of DK Metcalf full games? Not the highlights, I mean the full games.

    • As long as Morgan is the GM, Young will be the QB. Young is 100% Morgan's guy. The contract extension is pretty much guaranteed unless Young suffers a career ending injury this season.
    • People really need to stop placing Dan Morgan on some kind of infallible pedestal. He is absolutely in lockstop with Tepper regarding Bryce and has been all along. As far as the team being okay with 185 passing yards per game. We better have a proven monster RB in our backfield then. Presently that guy is not on the roster. Chuba has one outlier season so far and the other guys have proven nothing. Not what you would call a great recipe. The only thing we can hope at this juncture is that the highest paid OL in the league for the second year in a row elevates their play from last season and opens up some massive holes even our RB's can get through. But it still doesn't resolve the issue of predictability. With no viable passing game it is much easier to shut down any run game. No defenses are scared of Bryce's arm. It is what it is.
    • i lived in Atlanta from 84'to 92' & back then it was indeed a very different time without the internet & access to information 24/7. shortly after i moved back home to western NC around 93' or 94' the Carolina Panthers were awarded an NfL franchise & began their inaugural season in 95' so ike you i have seen the Carolina Panthers, ,the NFL ,technology, fans all evolve over the many a moon & years now some for the better & others not so ...just saying
