NFLPA Boss: Lockout Likely

"I still feel that a lockout is coming in March," NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith told Bloomberg News.

Biggest mistake the Players Association made was putting this arrogant ass-neck in charge.

QFMFT

He's a scum bag lawyer who's trying to leverage the owners in a power play for even more money in the worst recession/depression in 75-80 years. His goals are inconsistent with the interests of the NFL, and his actions could ultimately hurt the league.

If it comes down to it, and a lockout begins, I say replace 'em all. I'm sure there are tons of players who have been cut from various leagues that would be willing to play. I'm a Football fan and a Panther's fan, not a highly paid athletic entertainer fan.

Aren't they supposed to say these kind of things right now? I was watching the NFL network last night and they pretty much said there is NO WAY a deal doesn't get done and I agree with them. There is just TOOOO much to lose for both sides if there isn't a season...think back to baseball which had a lockout during prime economical times...

Demaurice Smith is going to be the worst thing that has ever happened to the NFL if he isn't careful.

The owners are not going to concede. They write the checks and those who write the checks hold the power. Jerry Jones, Jerry Richardson, Dan Snyder...these are some of the richest men on the planet. Does Smith really think they are going to lose that much sleep over a lockout? The players, however have a 10 year window to make money in this sport. Some of them have even less time than that...

The owners are going to call the players bluff and there will be no lockout because ultimately there is more at stake for the players than there is for the owners. Demaurice Smith will be out of the NFLPA before he gets them what they want...Their demands are ludicrous anyways.

I mean there is greed on both sides then theres good reasoning on both sides as well. I can understand why the players would not want to give up 60% of there money but I also can understand why some Owners dont want to fork over 70% of there earnings as well.

"Let them lock out the players. I watched the scabs in 87, and I will pay to watch them again in 11. Frankly, my money's on Hurney to put together a pretty damned good replacement roster."

The 1987 strike was a player strike that lasted 24 days. A lot different from an owner's lockout. If it were a player strike there would be scabs willing to cross a picket line and play. But this is an owner's lockout and there will be no picket line to cross, no scabs and no football.

The NFL Network is owned by who? The NFL. And where does the NFL stand on the possibility of a lockout? Squarely on the side of the owners. And the baseball strike in 1994 was a player walkout, not an owner lockout- there is a huge difference between the 2. A player strike puts owners in a tough situation. An owner lockout means owners have put together the financial resources to survive without the game, if need be, for a period of time. Hence, the minimal spending...

    • Burns quit on his team, full stop. Burns was and continues to be a liability in the run.    JC has never looked this bad before the concussion. He always was a very solid tackler, from what I remember.  I’ll take the overall body of his work over his current down stretch. I’ve never had to question his heart. The FO has royally screwed up roster management in many other deals but retaining Horn continues to be the right move. He will be back to form next season.
    • I get it. I was making a joke that we have zero chance of winning.
    • Did Bryce play bad? Yes. Did the whole offense play bad? Yes.  Was Canales bad with his playcalling? Yes. Now with that being said I don't put this loss solely on Bryce Young. The seahawks are a much more talented team than us and to win in a scenario like that you need some luck which we didn't have that day.  Bryce has shown this year that you can win with him at QB but the problem is that he doesn't have the ability to elevate the rest of the team around him. Bryce was a number 1 overall pick who we traded a haul of assets to get going into the end of his 3rd year the expectations need to be much higher than 54 yards passing.  It's been nice to get some wins this year and have a chance to make the playoffs and Bryce has played a part in that but at some point the front office needs to see that you can't keep giving Bryce a pass for these low production games.
