Ah, but Clausen wears # 2 and Quinn wore # 10!

I know this is a theoretical discussion, but I don't think it's fair to assume Clausen is Quinn 2.0 simply because they both came from ND and the guy playing infront of them wears # 3 and tore it up as a backup before they crashed and burned as a starter.

The bucs will be like the browns? I can't agrue that. But clauson playing badly? We must have been watching different games, he looked pretty solid for his first simi start in the nfl. And when we paly each other again I would expect completely different results as long as clauson is starting, moore over threw wide open touchdown plays more than once today

You do realize that Scot isn't a bucs fan, right??

JR is so caught up in this lockout, that he wants to make a point and not spend money. Well, I guess that is what you get for not spending money.

I don't want to hear this "we are in rebuilding mode" BULLSHIT. I could care less how we are going to look in 5 years. This is now. This season. So, we go down the drain this season, lockout next year, then where are we at?

Steve Smith is 2 years older

2 more years we aren't being able to take advantage of our running game.

Dammit.

Money doesn't win games, Washington and Dallas have the two highest payrolls in the league, they are 0-2

The Chiefs and Bucs have 2 of the lowest, they are 2-0

Perhaps coaching has something to do with it....

If Moore is Benched. Moore should stay benched, unless Clausen gets hurt. End of story.

Exactly.

If ever there were a year when we needed to just committ to our rookie and let him spend the season learning, this is it. Because last I checked, it's not like we're a quarterback away from being a contender. This entire team has issues, and if we're going to start Clausen, we've got to let him start the entire season.

Contender for the SB? No.

Contender for a Wild Card? Yes.

Dallas is one of the top. Oakland is the top this year. Washington is 18th.

As for salaries versus wins it is a mixed bag. Two teams near the bottom of the list- Indy, and New England are perennial contenders. That could change for both though once Brady and Manning's deals count in the payroll.

With a coaching staff under a 1 year deal and Hunrey not signing his contract, there may not be a committment to long term. Why would they care about down the road when it doesn't include them? I suspect it is win now and pad the resume by all means necessary.

I thought he already signed it?

You may be right. If that were the case, however, I would have to think that Fox and Hurney's draft might have gone a bit differently. They obviously were trying to find their quarterback of the future in Clausen and to a lesser degree Pike. They tried to find some receivers, which is obviously an immediate need, but one of the receivers they drafted (Edwards) is clearly a project that will probably not see much time this year.

You could say that maybe some of these decisions came from the top down, and you might be right again. But if that's the case, I could easily see Richardson telling Fox and Hurney that he wants Clausen to start the rest of the season regardless of how he plays.

Richardson's clearly prepping this team for the future. I don't think he cares if Fox or Hurney leave here after a less-than-desirable season.
