Armanti Edwards will likely get cut next year

Alright, follow my logic for a moment...

This theory is based on these assumptions

1.) Fox will be gone after this year

2.) AE doesn't see the field at all this year or until the last quarter of the season

3.) Our offense still leans toward the run (Hopefully, becomes more balanced in the air though)

This is why AE is likely to get cut next year. Next year, we will usher in a new era with a new coach. Therefore, the new coach will have no problem getting rid of players from Fox's era. At the WR position, the 1st 3 spots are more than likely locked. Smith, Lafell, Gettis...Therefore, we're left with the #4 WR spot and further down.

As a #4 WR, AE will probably get beaten out

There is two likely scenarios I see.

1.) Wallace Wright will beat out AE for #4

Wallace Wright has two advantages over AE right now. One, he is a better receiver right now and two, he can contribute to special teams as a special teams ace. More importantly, the special teams play will keep Wright ahead of AE.

2.) New FA or Draft pick will push AE too far down

It is possible that our new head coach could bring in a FA WR for competition. There are guys like James Jones from GB and Malcolm Floyd of SD(No VJax ) as #2s....but those are not likely. A Jacoby Jones pick-up could be possible seeing as he can help as a returner as well and is hungry for more playing time. Or we could try and draft a PR at WR.

Example/Proof

Dexter Jackson

AE's own ASU alum, AE could very well follow in his footsteps. Dexter Jackson was a very controversial pick...just like AE was. His speed boosted up his stock in the draft. Dexter Jackson was benched in 2008 over his fear of being hit. The very same fear you can see in AE. After the regime change over to Raheem Morris, the Bucs decided to move on as Dexter Jackson was beat out by Sammie Stroughter.

Stay?

AE will have a stronger possibility of staying if...let's say we trade Steve Smith. Or if we use him moreso like Vick (QB/Wildcat) instead of Joshua Cribbs (Returner/WR/Wildcat). That's the only way I feasibly see it though.

Conclusion

I'm pretty confident in this theory that AE will be gone next year and that pick will go down as one of the worst picks in our franchise history.

Agree with me! :yesnod:

i swear it was 2-3 weeks ago that people were going on and on about how we wont be seeing much of AE for a year or two now he's getting cut? what about the word "project" dont you understand? hell edwards could come back and be the returner later this season for all you know. it was one crappy game as a returner in the PRESEASON. he's capable of doing too much on this team for them to cut after one season.

    • Having trouble finding all these articles saying the Raiders withheld information. Here’s the latest from Crosby’s surgeon: ElAttrache told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Wednesday morning that Crosby was "doing very well in the early part of his rehab and recovery from surgery to treat a significant meniscus tear and the related stress injury to the bone and cartilage in his knee. He is certainly on track in his planned program." "We truly respect the work of the Ravens' staff with Maxx regarding the contract physical exam. We also understand the challenge the staff faces when tasked to provide a future risk assessment based on an evaluation early in the recovery process," ElAttrache said. "This is especially challenging when dealing with an elite player like Maxx considering the level of commitment necessary for a team to obtain him. The timing of this assessment is unfortunate because the apparent risk will lessen as his recovery progresses and his return to performance over the next few months becomes clear."     So the Ravens excuse is the future risk assessment based on the physical, not that the Raiders withheld information. They found an excuse to save face publicly. They had the right to cancel the trade for no reason at all, but they’re trying to save face with the most acceptable reasoning they can find. I’ve heard and seen the Ravens getting dragged everywhere for this. You know what would be an easy way to put a stop to that if you’re the Ravens and the Raiders were actually the shady ones withholding information? Just come out and say that you were not given all the medical information. But they aren’t saying that. I guess they’re just taking the bullet for the Raiders just because?    Speculation indeed.
    • Two first round picks for a guy with very questionable knees who will be 29 this summer. Yes it is safe to say the Ravens got cold feet.
    • The salary cap is the reason we got Phillips and Lloyd
