Joe Person: “It might not be at 8, but my sense is the #Panthers will find another pass catcher for (Bryce) Young fairly early in the draft”

Dream, but Walker will not last this long.  He's the pick at #8, hands down.  Like XL, you need guys who want to be Panthers and will take pride in building the team up....

Bingo!!

That's the reason for me championing TMac along with his agent tuk21.....

This team has NO ONE that teams are scared of on offense, NO ONE.

It's even hard to for the defense, dbrown sure * but how will he respond to ACL surgery....that's 330 LBs on that one leg each step and pushing other 330 man-beast. I don't even think Horn scares QBs or WRs.

Just no talent....

I think it was a meniscus tear. Those are two very different injuries - in severity, time to heal, and likelihood of reoccuring.

I mean, we did just have the worst scoring defense in NFL history.

If there was a Jamarr Chase or Justin Jefferson type prospect I'd be pounding the table for him. I like T-Mac and wouldn't be mad about drafting him but I'm not going to pretend that we don't have at least equal needs on the defensive side of the ball.

Pass rushers trump receivers.

Exactly correct on both comments.

Dang Im sorry, not my intention to spread a false injury. It was MCL and that is different rehab.

The Panthers need to add a long term solution to the pass rusher role on this defense. This  need is so much greater than any need to add yet another rookie receiver.

I definitely agree on pass rusher being the most pressing need however I would also say important that we don't hamstring ourselves in terms chasing need when we have a roster as needy as we have.

If BPA is a WR, so be it. If BPA is a pass rusher, so be it. So on and so forth. Let's just focus on getting quality football players that can make a distinct two deep impact.

If this isn't the draft that we can land an elite pass rusher, we likely are looking at a top 10 pick again next season, so I would hate to get antsy, reach and end up with a bust we are saddled with for 3-4 seasons.

I agree with what you're saying.

Just remember when it comes the positional value, a receiver won't hold the same value as a pass rusher.

Panthers will run the ball and pass when they need too. Think the staff understands this, just the fans dont.

Only chance of that is if we have a significantly improved defense. So far they were one of the higher pass % teams in the league. Only 4 teams ran more than they passed and they most had good defense. Buffalo was the only one with a below median defense that ran more than 50%.

Yes but a top shelf WR is worth more than a rotational pass rusher.

There is nuance to all of these evaluations.

Let's hope we have more hits than misses. We can't really afford to have our many years of poor drafts continue.

    • I do think the rating is fair given how this unit hasn’t proven it with production. I understand you have to rank off production, not potential. However, our unit is also in a position to make this rating look foolish a year from now. We have 4 guys in the WR/TE room who all could legitimately take the next step this year, and catapult our rank. A guy under a lot of people’s radar after we took Tet, Jalen Coker. Mark my words, he will become the star of this room, and be the heir to Thielen.
    • Exactly. You’d think 2-7 wins a year (in a 17 game season no less) since 2017 is going to keep us bottom tier. Every year we say the same poo like we haven’t been a bad team the past 7 years. Until we prove we aren’t a bottom dweller, that’s where we’ll stay ranked. God forbid we have OL injuries like 2016.
    • What I love and hate about this team is it’s more filled with potential breakout players than ever before. JT, XL, Coker, Smith-Wade, Ikem, Trevin… and even Bryce are all guys I could legitimately see taking the next step. But the problem with having so many of those guys is that team success somewhat relies on them taking that step, and some are bound not to. That being said, I’m cautiously optimistic given our softer schedule, the way the offense clicked late last year, and the direction we finally have at GM, coach, and QB. Could see us as a sneaky playoff team.
