Let's pretend for a moment that the stars align, we get the #1 pick, Andrew Luck declares for the draft and we take him. Let's also assume that we don't dump Pickles. We now have two young, highly touted prospects, along with an equally young, but not as highly touted prospect in Pike.

In our fantasy land, let's also presume that Luck is as good as we all hope that he will be. What does that do for Pickles? Does he learn good habits from Luck and become a better QB himself? The potential for this to happen is certainly there. What Luck brings to the table, assuming we get him and that he's as good as we hope, isn't just his own talent, but also the potential ability to make our other QB prospects that much better.

we wouldn't dump him...we'd trade him. i don't see how it benefits clausen at all to keep him around or how it benefits us. why would we keep him around? his trade value is only going to decrease the more he sits on the bench. there are a good few teams that will be looking for changes at QB this coming year, it would make sense to move him sooner rather than later.

I would expect Jimmy to start in 2011 and keep the job as long as he's effective. Eventually he would be traded for picks.

If we get Luck, he will start right away. You don't let the #1 overall pick sit on the bench. Clausen gets moved at draft time for a mid level pick, IMO.

As much as I like the scenario, I just don't see us drafting Luck if Hurney sticks around. Clausen is his guy. I don't see him using that pick for Luck when he drafted two QBs last year. I expect a trade down, no matter how much I'll hate that scenario.

A new GM would probably pick luck in a heartbeat though.

If we get Luck I will hold him to the standards I expect out of 'the next Peyton Manning' from day 1 and create 10 threads a week bemoaning his lack of production if he fails to deliver.
