Based on his comments and the list of visits, I am thinking they feel that they are going to find a WR later in the draft--and that is probably smart.

Wildcard--he has not ruled out TE, but I think he is going with Tremble and Sanders and some UDFA or something like that.

Exactly. This vibes with what Joe Person has said, we're not interested in a WR or TE @8

Assuming we stay at 8 (which I think we will) it's guaranteed we take a defense player probably Mykel Williams

I am thinking he would be the Panther's version of Micah Parsons and we would still draft an edge.

I think he would be the panthers version of Luvu.  Just a bit more athletic and explosive.  True lb on run downs, Edge on passing downs.

I think speed is way less of a problem than skill. AT and Coker aren't burners but are very skilled. XL is very fast but not very skilled.

I am okay getting a skilled AND fast guy but pure speed isn't useful at all.

Speed I guess, I think most people are talking about quickness.  We have none.  We have straight line speed at best.  Acceleration, deceleration, change of direction, that's what we don't have, like at all.  Look what Diontae Johnson did on the field while he was here.  If he had kept his head down and played all season he would have had a great season. That's because he had those things and that's what our system needs.  Not big guys to throw 59 yard bombs to in double coverage which seems to be what we covet for whatever reason.

Dan said there is a lot of talent that they like at pick 8.

He's not suppose to suggest who we like. Only an idiot would want him to do that, yet we also have huddlers saying that him not saying anything suggests the doesn't like any guys there.

fug the huddle is dense.

I've watched a lot of Morgan and Canales interviews that have been posted on the Panthers website/youtube, podcasts, Todd McShay, Trevor Sikkema, etc. What I'm gathering is that they really like Walker at 8, if Walker is gone and they can't trade back then Mykel Williams is the 2nd option. Front office is doing a deep dive at the safety and TE positions which are needs. Dan is not afraid to be active on draft to move up or down. OT will be a sneaky need and preparation for possible loss of Moton (they didn't extend or restructure his contract) in the future.

    • Coker has certainly earned it. Good for him.
    • I don't think we don't call things aggressively, for a Canales offense, anyway. We don't have a QB who makes aggressive throws nor stresses defenses downfield. He is at a career low on 20+ attempts per game and his career 10-20 QB rating is abysmal.  That will always be a limiting factor IF you are looking for a high flying, downfield offense. I am not even that concerned about it, I just want to see effective offense and we decidedly do not possess that. A large chunk of that is Bryce. I think the second biggest chunk is Canales. All the other components(XL included) are fairly minor in comparison to those two things. I am an advocate of attempting to improve at QB. I am not focused on finding "The QB." We failed at that with Bryce. So let's just get better. If that's a one year vet or a draftee or a cheap trade or some combination of any/all, we should do that. We have to get that QB better. Bryce will fail in 2026 and we need to have REALISTIC options to take over when that happens. That ain't Andy Dalton or Hendon Hooker or Jack Plummer or Mike White or....you get the picture. Be serious about hedging that Bryce bet and not just having to make do if he struggles or gets injured.  My mind is definitely made up on Canales. It's year two and he hasn't improved much, nor do I think the bones of a good HC are there. Ron Rivera got to that point after two seasons and he was open about the changes he had to make and advice he got to make that leap in year 3. If we don't see the same after next year, how is he not just Brian Daboll?
    • Not really buying it because T-mac faces stiffer competition week in and week out.
