I think the only thing that throws a spanner in the works is if Graham falls to us, which seems a distinct possibility at this point.

I was going through this draft slowly, and I got to the Raiders and thought, "Hmm. Graham could be there." Then I thought, after seeing the Jets draft Graham, "Now I have 1 more reason to hate Aaron "the narcissist" Rodgers.

Verge has really spiced this up a bit with her Mykel Williams prediction (based on an inside and an outside source) and the fact that she called Jalon Walker a "smokescreen" (or agreed to that description).  The fact of the matter:  I see neither as a good fit based on their college play.

If Graham goes off the board at 7, I am praying for a trade back.

Agreed. Neither are a good fit. Trade back or take a better fit if forced to do so. It's not like the talent is really that different 10 and even 20 picks later.

To be honest, getting the Panther first round picks correct isn't hard because we are always at the top.  It's like shooting fish in a barrel.  Also, once we zero in on the guy, we suck at hiding our infatuation with that player.

I’d buy it… if we ever ran a smoke screen. Normally we pick the “rumored “ player,

but I guess there’s a first time for everything.

I don't believe that any Bulldogs fans believe we'd pick Williams over Walker

I'm saying it now: Walker will fit and/or adapt to any system successfully.

Williams could just be our 2nd choice if we get a trade partner.

I'll also say this: If Walker is in fact a smokescreen, the only smoke Morgan will have to be worried about next season is the smoke from a red-hot seat.

I don't get the smokescreen. There is no reason for a smokescreen to take Williams at 8. It doesn't add up.

I would buy that the team is attempting to downplay our interest in Walker with fake leaks about Williams.

Why would any internal source be providing info to outsiders? Are they as stupid as the sec of defense?

Not if he takes Warren and the Panthers win 10 games and dude has 10 touchdowns and Bryce has 40 total touchdowns. Had he played at the pace of his scoring after his benching, he would’ve had around 40 touchdowns so that’s not impossible.

The depth of defense in this draft is wild, and the drop in talent is not that high. Take Warren Dan.

take, Warren. Do it.

Campbell must know his stuff.  Also has us taking Jordan Burch in round 2?  Panthers trying to be sneaky since he finished his career at Oregon......but it's continuing the never ending funnel of Columbia to Charlotte with yet again another Gamecock.

Not a big fan of this pick at 8. But that’s actually a good thing. With the exception of D. Brown I haven’t been thrilled with any of their 1st round selections in a long while but I think all are or will turn out to be very good (even Legette).

    • Hello, soccer fans [crickets, tumbleweed flies by]. The World Cup kicks off in less than 2 weeks and, well, 🇺🇸USA USA USA🇺🇸 and all. We beat Senegal 3-2 yesterday in a tune-up friendly at BoA, with Christian Pulisic finally entering the scoring column.  How will we do in the World Cup once our tournament kicks off on the 12th? Well, there are 48 teams (assuming Iran is there) and it feels like one of two thing happens: we get grouped for the first time since '98, or we make it to the Round of 16 for the third time in the last four World Cups. I tried out the lottery for an Atlanta game and struck out, so yesterday was as World Cup as I'll get for in-person ($285/ticket for like Norway vs $39/ticket for USMNT right beforehand was a layup).  The U.S. has a travel-heavy schedule in group play, playing in LA, Seattle and LA. Real road warrior mentality being built. Glad the east coast gets worse kickoff times for a NA World Cup than a Qatar World Cup.
    • Well, that's the thing. Drafting players only for their physical measurables as you are suggesting only really happened during 2024, and X unfortunately has become the poster child for that. To be clear, it's not necessarily about drafting RAS over skill, but RAS over NFL-readiness and/or a solid body of work. Lots of players show skill in college, but those skills don't necessarily translate to the NFL for a multitude of reasons. But, getting back to the main point, to be clear, I believe that our FO is still enamored with physical gifts (who wouldn't be?), but now they're letting Dr. Eric Eager's proprietary system--his "secret sauce" prioritize the players that the Panthers draft, and it seems like it weighs not only a solid body of work, relative to a college career of course, but consistent gradual improvement as evidenced by production pretty highly.
    • Its a good article about how pathetically bad our past drafts ('23 and '24) have been. Building the team in '23 since we weren't ready yet and taking your qb in '24 made so much more sense in hindsight. Ladd McConkey over XL is pretty much a given but not sure it does as much to change Bryce's trajectory as the author suggests.  As bad as '23 and '24 drafts were, the '25 and '26 really give me hope.
