it makes sense. they have a physical type they are looking for.

It makes sense. I mean, the edge guys we drafted do have prototypical 3-4 OLB measurables and by all accounts post-draft T-Mac was by far and away everyone WR1 so it's not hard to believe that the Panthers just saw better value going that way. I think it's likely that Walker was plan B if T-Mac was gone and in that case we were going to definitely strongly consider offers to trade down.

No issue with passing on Walker/how our draft went, but what does Everos use of Chinn have to do with projecting how he might have used Walker? Beyond being called a “tweeter” by some, totally different players and roles on the field.

I don't think it has anything to do with Chinn. I mean, Chinn was a LB/safety tweener where Walker is am EDGE/LB tweener. Really different players and how we used Chinn was really kinda forced on us by our roster. He wasn't good in a deep safety role but he was the best option we had. Now I would argue that we should've still used Chinn where he was most effective but that's just me. I don't see how you're making a D better by misusing one of your better talents.

It does seem like the Raiders are finally starting to use him how he should be used if you're going to play him at safety.

this aint just an Evero problem either the NFL favors guys with an position. Walker need a vision and a plan and he wasnt going to get that here

Walker has the mind and motor to be great, but yeah his size makes him a gamble which I’m good with not taking at pick 8.

If we get the Purdue version of Scourton he will be much better than Walker could ever be in our system.

This had more to do with T-Mac and his positional value and the dynamics of this draft than Walker. Just accept it. There's really not too much to see here.

we picked up two in box, run defense specialists at safety this offseason in both Ransom and Moerhig but Evero never bothered to play Chinn in that role

I've been warning folks to prepare for Moehrig to be misused as a primarily deep safety this year precisely because of this.

Basically a reflection of Evero's general inflexibility about square pegs in his defense.
