Kinda starting to worry about Coker’s ability to stay healthy

last year it was a quad during practice I believe then he had a set back during his return to play protocol crap they do and he’s already dealing with something now

meh, coker would still be WR4 even without health issues.

But that's the WR4 this year, we only have one year left of Thielen.

If Coker has injury issues and/or regresses and shows why he went undrafted, unless Horn ends up REALLY living up to the minicamp hype, we'd actually end up in need of another good WR option next offseason again.

I love the potential of T-Mac, XL, Coker, Horn as our 1-4 next year and into the future.

And while I of course have a million percent belief that T-Mac is going to be that guy for us, it's still a big year for the rest of the WR room to prove we're set at the position for the foreseeable future once Thielen is gone after the season.

I'll go ahead and say it because the average poster is too scared to say it.  Hunter Renfrow is the best route runner on the team.  He will catch more balls than a couple of those dudes added together.  It's Short King season!   Get on the wagon while there are still seats available!

There's only two paths to that happening.

First is that Theilen misses a significant chunk of the season, the other is that XL and Coker both either flop or have injuries themselves.

I love the pickup of Renfrow as I think he'll be great in the locker/film room for all the young guys while giving us a natural replacement of Thielen in the WR room next year to be the wiley old vet in the room.

But he has almost no path to getting snaps this year unless the guys ahead of him have injuries or just suck.  Assuming he makes he squad, he's more likely to be inactive more often than he's active on game days.

And he's not the best route runner on the team, that's still Thielen, who even at this point in his career is still one of the better route runners in the league.

AT is largely a product of good reliable hands and an abundance of targets than being a great route runner.  I mean, there is basically a you tube series on the fact AT doesn't actually run great routes anymore.

I stand 10 toes down (as the kids would say) on my prior statement.  Renfrow has less God given physical gifts than anyone named.....but he is a better route runner than all of them.   I mean, his route running is literally the only reason he is being given this chance.

2021 Renfrows ability to cut/change direction on the run was godlike.

he is by far the least physically gifted....but yeah, the only reason a team is willing to give him the option is because his route running is top tier.   It's the best on the team.  Now, that only gets you so far.  Where Renfrow gets into a problem is a defender doesn't have to fully respect it all like they would with a WR that was more gifted by the physical attribute gods.  But that's also how Renfrow has caught folks his entire football career.

Brother, Id call his ability to get open a gift. Cutting or changing direction while at NFL speed while the CB is completely out of the play....In my book that's a gift. Its mentally or physically labeled as well.

Those professional CB that watch film know to respect prime Renfrow. Did you see what derwin james said about him? Check it out

I think the lead up was list the best WRs in the game, James is madd underrated and elite said Renfrow was that guy. Now is that guy on the Panthers? I don't believe so, need to see proof.

Ben Solak on Bryce Young:

Panthers quarterback Bryce Young

What a turnaround it has been for Young, who is the unquestioned starter in Carolina less than nine months after he was benched in the 2024 season. Young was miles better post-benching than he was before, but the hay isn't in the barn just yet. Starting in Week 5, Young was fourth in completion percentage over expectation (NFL Next Gen Stats) but 31st in off-target rate. That means he was connecting with his receivers on high-leverage throws deep downfield, which is explosive but also unsustainable. Confidence is high, though, and he has earned the right to build on his improvement.

    • Why? AI already taking jobs, running up power bills, drinking all the water and just bad for the environment but hey lest try to shoehorn another useless way to use it.
    • I'm going rogue in R1 but there's so much confusion around us. Last year, we were going Walker or Williams and caught folks off guard with TMac. The previous year we LOVED Legette and it was no surprise when his name was called. This year, I think we nail three areas that weren't totally addressed in FA.  R1 - Kayden McDonald Full disclosure, I want Thienemann here, but think he goes before 19. Some might see an "overdraft" but McDonald unlocks so many people on our D. Having a DT the caliber of McDonald let's Lloyd, Wallace and the newly drafted Hill flood the offensive backfield. Also opens up Moehrig and our EDGES to eat. Lastly, it also removes all the pressure on DB to be the primary facilitator in the trenches and A'Shawn will be missed. I don't care about Turk. McDonald is the only true DT worth of a R1 grade and Morgan seals up our trenches here w/ a kid from a blue blood school. R2 - Anthony Hill Jr *trade up*  I love JRod, but think a smart team takes him at the end of R1 (Seattle, NE w/ two d-minded coaches). Hill, Jr is a beast and lost in the shuffle with all the Styles/Allen/Rodriguez hype. He and Lloyd with DB and McDonald up front and flanked by Scourton/Phillips is nasty.  R3 - Hecht/Lew/Center du jour Let's stop the madness with ignoring this position in the draft. We need one and should start normalizing the capital invested in our OL with someone on a draft contract. He won't need to start day 1, but I think the right selection will push for starter reps. R4 - Bud Clark Not sure if he's here in R4 where we pick, but would fit the "type" of FS/roamer that we need opposite Moehrig and Ransom. Allows us to run 3-safety looks and really keep teams guessing with personnel packages. R5 - Kendrick Law The kind of WR we need. IDK if he's any different than Horn, Jr or Metchie but Law could be a dart throw that brings a deep threat to our WR corps I'm guessing one of the R5 picks is used to move up in R2 along with a '27 day 3 pick.   Post-draft, I sign Njoku to bring in a vet at TE. I'm also keeping my eyes open for pre-week 1 team cuts for a young CB that we could bring in to maybe plan for Mike Jack's departure next year. Flame away.... I know the McDonald pick will not make people happy.
