Love Josh Norman, one of my favorite Panthers. Glad to see him at camp.

I'll always despise Dave Gettleman for letting his ego get in the way of smart football business on that one. That fiasco absolutely sucked the air out of that locker room and pretty much tanked that season before it started.

Stupid fuger. Im not going to pay you, ill just flat out release you and waste the draft trying and failing to replace you.

I thought the poo was a joke when the news broke he had rescinded the tag.

It’s cool to have him back around that's for sure. Unfortunately his time here was cut short because of our tub-of-lard GM at the time.

As far as I know, he has pretty much no direct ties to anyone on the current staff or front office - so it’s random to have him around but I’m glad that we have an open invitation to one of this lowly franchise’s most important players.

Bradberry was a great pick and worthy replacement. Rest of that draft was ass though

Bradberry was never on 2015 Josh Normans level. He was a decent corner, but not a replacement. His ball skills were ass, Norman erased half of the field in 2015

We have one guy here who played with Norman.

I am sure there are a few guys working for the team that were here in 2015, might be people we would never hear about though.

He dismantled a superbowl team, can't ever forgive him for that

Norman had the better peak but bradberry was more consistent over a longer period

He shouldn't have a been a replacement, but a compliment. Norman was the only NFL caliber CB we had and Gettleman let him walk to win a dick measuring contest.

We really only got to see Norman in our system for 1 and a half seasons. He could have been elite for a couple more seasons if given the chance imo.

Bradberry was only good.

Would have been nice to have Norman and Bradberry together.

That was the move that broke off my relationship with Dave. MFER!!!! With Norman that was the best chance to have back-2-back winning season........Just ride out the tag. If he didn't want to show up, fine his arse. He's getting 16-17 million more than his previous 4 years combined. fug......

He didn't even try and trade him either, just got ultra butt-hurt with feelings and dumped a prime player......... I was not in agreement with long term either. Still one of the best football minds scooped him up and made him the highest paid....... So dumb the whole way it played out.

Then he used nearly the whole draft to find Normans replacement and ANOTHER STARTER, just asking for failure. After QB, CB is the hardest spot to play as a rookie. You got to run backwards with a 230 6'3 4.3 40 Juilo Jones???????????? Impossible and Norman did it as well as anyone not named revis. Then next week you got Mike "tying records with Jerry Rice" Evans whos taller...... No breaks next week you got Drew Brees, Closton and cooks with Payton calling plays like a shark in bloody water.

I was as big of a fan of Josh as anyone and was pissed about that situation then and still am today. But Bradberry was also a legit #1 corner for a while here, not as flashy as Josh or as mentioned before in this thread not at the level of Josh's peak, but he was more consistent and just a quiet stud. Like Gamble was. Was just correcting the post from before about how the draft was completely wasted trying to replace him, which is a notion I just disagree with. Bradberry was a great pick and legit #1 corner. As I already posted, the rest of the draft was an absolute disaster but we did come away with a Josh replacement. And yeah it should've been both but I'm just evaluating the moves after the Josh fiasco.

Also worth noting we did have Bene who was coming off 2 incredible seasons before breaking his leg late in 2015. I don't think anyone expected him to fall off nearly as much as he did following that injury. If he had gotten back to that level of play, Bradberry on the outside with him in the slot would be a decent pair to bolster a corner group. Those 2 plus a veteran outside CB signing after the Josh fiasco would've been a reasonably good group. But Bene couldn't get his conditioning back and sucked and DG was confident in 3 rookies which was dumb as hell.

    • I don't think Dave touches the defense. That might be a mark against him but definitely a huge red flag for evero. He refuses to run anything other than soft zone and when you don't get pressure that's an awful scheme
    • You don't have to convince me. I think not picking up the option should absolutely be firmly on the table but I just do not see Tepper and Morgan doing that for previously stated reasons. Therefore I'm not going to bother entertaining the notion. Just hoping we actually get real viable competition. If that doesn't happen at the minimum then my perception of that is complete and utter professional malpractice.
    • It was absolutely a catch, and I can’t believe how many folks were stating, before the NFL’s apology, that the overturn was the right call.  The ultimate question in this case is this: can a player complete a catch with only one hand? Of course, we all know the answer to that question, and it is an emphatic “Yes.” T-Mac maintained complete control with one hand (believe it was the right) while the other came off when the ball hit the ground. The ball was in the same position in the one hand (watch T-Mac’s fingers in relation to the NFL shield on the ball) after touching the ground as it was when it first went to the ground. Going back to the question above, if one hand can establish control, then there was no need for the other to stay on the ball, so long as the ball doesn’t move in that one hand that stays on it   It blew my mind that they overturned this in the first place. This should not be a “We got it wrong on the replay because there wasn’t clear and convincing evidence.” This should have been, “That was absolutely a catch.”
