Well they do preface it by saying "there is some projection here." He is saying he believes WR will be the strength. I definitely disagree and think it will again be the OL and likely RB's but I wouldn't be so quick to say "doesn't watch the team" as much as maybe has a rosier view of the WR corps. Or maybe just doesn't have as high of an opinion of the OL as we do. 

It's an interesting take, to be sure. There are several here that have voiced that "WR corps is a strength" view.

If WR is our biggest strength that will be HUGE. It basically means that T-Mac showed up as a legit #1 WR from day one and XL developed into a legit starter over the off-season.

IMO, the strength of the roster is obviously OG. We have one of the best pairs of starting OGs in the league with some decent depth behind them.

The biggest issue we face is that there are numerous compelling arguments to be made about our biggest weakness. LOL

I think there’s plenty of ways you can go about choosing the worst position group for us. LB, S, EDGE, hell even CB. For me, our biggest weakness remains depth. Plenty of reasons behind that (poor drafting, bad contracts, not a big market to attract FAs, etc.). Injuries will and do happen and for us, one big injury to any of our weaker position groups and things start looking similar to last year. The only position groups that can continue contributing while having injuries IMO are OL and RB. So both should be the only two considerations for strengths even though I understand  the hope and/or projection for WRs. I tend to not use projection in “right now” rankings. But i get it.

Well, it seems a little confusing, but I guess not: I guess they're thinking that we're going to the way that our receivers go. Barnwell just ranked us 31 at the (so-called) offensive skill positions. ESPN just doesn't think that much of the Panthers. I wonder if it was the O-line that bumped us up one spot, because they obviously don't think that much of our safety position, or our pass-rush. In any event, there should be ample enough bulletin board material here for the team.

*disclaimer, no need to tell us what happened in the end, just quit watching after he gets the Mountain on the ground.  I mean, he technically beat him.  Renfrow isn't cocky enough to then get leg swept and then have all that other stuff happen to him.

Yeah, but...they rank us 30th of 32 teams, so the WR-is-a-strength sentiment  is built on hollowed ground (yes, "hollowed," not hallowed). When you're perceived as ranking 30th, there's an argument that all strengths are really perceived as weaknesses.

I mean, basically I wouldn't get carried away with any strength arguments based upon that ranking.

The truth will begin to reveal itself come early September.

So... what they're saying is that we went from having maybe the worst WR room in the league last year to it being the biggest strength of the roster this year...

I mean 1-6 the WR group is pretty good.  All 6 won’t see the field at the same time.  I’d say 3 WR sets or less a majority of the time if our commitment to the run game is to be believed.

With that said, the o line is our strength.  Behind that we have a RB room with 2 1000 yard rushers.  Personally I think both groups are “better” at this time.  And if we’re only going 2-3 players deep the Corners have an argument for being a better unit than the WRs as we currently sit.

tl;dr  Another lazy article by the world wide leader in sports…

      If he has another good season, we're probably not going to get out of it, as that's just the nature of the beast. The salary cap goes up and salaries go up.    Maybe we won't have to pay him that high, but it will most certainly be in the neighborhood.       I mean, I think you will really struggle to find many prognosticators that don't have us in the bottom 5. Part of it is that we do have a bottom 5 overall roster(still true) and part of it is that we have more question marks than most rosters. Finally, we have consistently been a bottom 10 team for close to a decade now. Nothing is really a safer offseason projection that putting us there.

      Dean Jones, the resident writer for Cat Crave, thinks that we should consider signing Noah Fant. Jones titles his article:  Panthers quietly handed perfect fix for overlooked flaw at just the right time He calls the TE position an "overlooked flaw," and even though I wouldn't necessarily go as far as that, I do believe that the Panthers would instantly buttress the position with a Fant signing. The Panthers just may throw out feelers, and there are connections.   "Fant played for Panthers' tight ends coach Pat McPherson for two seasons. He was also in Seattle with head coach Dave Canales and offensive coordinator Brad Idzik in 2022. This also happens to be a position group that is dangerously short of dependable options."   I guess it comes down to whether or not the Panthers believe that our guys can be the real deal, or at least fill the need that Canales and company have for this offense. I have been skeptical of the lack of TE involvement in the regular flow of the offense since Canales has taken over, but it may be because of the lack of legit and/or experienced personnel. Fant hasn't been spectacular. He is an apt move-TE though. He is a so-so middle of the pack-ish pass blocker. His run blocking grades leave a lot to be desired (save for one year).  I guess that I could see it, but I just don't know if Fant moves the needle enough to spend the extra money on him. For a first rounder, he's been kind of a bust in my opinion. He's still NFL-worthy, and he's still in the prime of his career. But, I think I'm more in disagreement with Jones about thinking Fant is the "perfect fix."
