For those thinking Renfrow isn't making the team...Ha!

I dont get the infatuation with wanting one of these old dudes to be 3rd or better in receptions.

We have two first round pick WRs and a UDFA in Coker who showed real promise.

Not to mention our TE and RBs, plus Horn.

Any number of dudes we should be developing and giving these looks too, not Renfrow or AT. They are on their way out of the league.

it's not a "wish"....it's just acknowledging our total situation.  And once you do that, you can see the path way.

starts with QB and his style of play.   Bryce just flat out isn't a natural deep passer.  The vertical deep ball isn't his thing and even his throws on outs and comebacks on the sideline leave you feeling uneasy.  So where does Bryce natural like to go? Middle of the field.  Which is why an actual old dude has dominated touches since Bryce Young has been behind center.  AT is a half decade older than Renfrow.

Then you acknowledge what a healthy Hunter Renfrow is....a WR who lives in the part of the field BY naturally likes.  A WR who factually just runs better routes than ANYONE on the team in that area of the field.....and can get open better than anyone else in that section of the field for what would be relatively easy throws vs what raw rookies or sophomores will be running on the outside.

So top 3 in receptions (not yards)? That's not a far fetched idea given what we are.   I wouldn't predict Hunter could pull that off if we inserted Jake Delhomme in the lineup.  And I don't equate the prediction to somehow meaning we aren't throwing to XL or Tmac.  But in this scheme, they both setup more lean toward being chunk ball WRs IMO.

*Hubbard was 3rd in receptions last year....and that was 6 less than the guy who was #1.  So yeah, Renfrow could do it if healthy.  Hubbard 3rd the year before as well with Mingo at #2.   Right now our roster is slam full of dudes so young we don't even know if a QB can depend on them to be where they are supposed to be every snap.

With how WR starved we've been over the years I'll gladly take 7 on the roster.  There will no doubt be injuries so it gives flexibility and also makes it easier when someone needs to rest for a week for a nagging injury if someone else can step up.   The Renfrow story has been great.  Dude was on the couch dealing with some real stuff the last year and probably misses playing and is going all out.  And basically his hometown team, near his family, it's like a perfect storm.  We already knew he ran amazing routes and is a third down machine.  AT isn't going to be around forever but Renfrow could slide into that vet leadership role in the future.

Wager has been laid on him to win comeback player of the year. I'm assuming odds will drop when he makes the 53. If anyone else has a little coin to light on fire FanDuel at +21000 was the best I found

3 wr have won the award in the past 20ish years.  Including our very own steve smith.  My advice, save your money

At +21000 it's not like I think he's actually going to win. But if he some how goes nuts and has 100 catches he has a much better story than McCaffrey who blew out his butthole for the 3rd time or whatever injury he had last

It would be a great story and a good bet, but brother that is one long shot.  So many things, good and bad, have to happen for that scenario to go down

True but in the last decade….only QBs (7) and WRs (2) have won the award.  One DB.    It’s a passing league and a story driven league
