I'll go 1 further than that. This 23 year old had spent 4 years as a middle of the pack college player before exploding onto the scene as a 5th year senior, then we have enough faith in him to trade up 1 spot so that we can get a 5th year option and guarantee his salary. So in about a year's time he went from a mid round pick to a first rounder. It would be hard NOT to let that go to your head!

I'm going to trust that the staff know what they're doing with XL and not give him too much crap about being a dumbass LAST season, as long as he doesn't continue to be one.

1) He had this mentality as a ROOKIE, when you've accomplished NOTHING to take a "breath".

Would much rather have the guy that realized his problems early and worked to fix them, than to have the guy that never figures it out, is out the league, and blames the organization (or others) for his lack of success.

Kinda enforces all the things I thought about him end of the season. He really messed up imo doing squirrel tik toks and derby videos instead of immediately putting out catching practice videos but the funny accent seems to keep people happy. That’s my old man get off my lawn rant, hope he has a breakout year 2

yall are reading way to much in to this, all he said was I took my hands for granted last season because he's never had an issue with them and that's not how you continue to get better at the NFL level.

All of his viral moments have come from other people recording him, not his own self promotion. The NFL selected him to go to the derby also. He isn't pursuing any of that, and he has also shown up to player-organized workouts.

I'm happy for him. The league often overlooks and dismisses Panthers players, so seeing one of our guys not just being out there but actually being promoted is a nice change of pace.
