For us it's stupid. He's cheapish right now and we have not drafted a center in years. We had the chance but took an injured RB. It would be stupid to make what is already looking shaky but not terrible a terrible situation and then back ourselves into a situation of being desperate for a center next year and probably drafting a bust. I mean it's just how this team operates unfortunately.

I mean, he is just on a one year deal.

This is another BC scenario where we wee overvaluing him as an NFL player versus his worth to our roster specifically.

Also, why would the Bengals want a backup player? That's not the impact they are looking for, more likely than not.

Yeah I don't know why they would want Wonnum or Mays regardless.

As others have said. The cupboards here are bare. And we aren't about to give up one of the very few legit young players we have.

The fact our name is even in this takes me back to hard times with Fitterer.

I mean the only reasonable pieces we could potentially offer are Ikey, Lewis, Hunt, D. Brown and probably Horn. Maybe Dowdle as a pot sweetner?

But why would we literally trade any of those guys?

The defense is going to suck. That mold was cast like fuging 2 years ago. If this is desperation over lack of pass rush....well.....tough poo. Figure it out next offseason.

Am I wrong or did I read somewhere before he wanted 31M per?

Yeah, I think the Bengals offered him like upper 20s and he wanted more + more of the contract guaranteed.

I would love to have him, but it would be a colossal mistake IMO. Even if we got him for say only a 2nd round draft pick

Against Tampa? No.

Tampa is a mediocre team that has ruled poo mountain aka the NFC South. Barely avoided a split with Carolina last year and got swept by the Falcons. They just lost their hot shot OC that they were desperate to keep. They offered to make him the highest paid coordinator in the league for a reason and every Bucs fan I know would have helped Bowles pack if it meant promoting Coen. The Bengals pass rush is bottom of the league without Hendrickson and good with him. He moves the needle there and he would move the needle here. If this team is too chickenshit to try to compete with mighty Tampa then they should be relegated to the UFL 🤷‍♂️

    • Not sure who said it first, but Tepper is the correct answer. Still, I'm gonna go with Kasay keeping it inbounds. If, you subscribe to the butterfly effect version of time travel consequences.... When we win SBXXXVIII everybody's lives change: Moose never breaks his leg, We win it all again in 05. Tommy Jone is unknown and Peppers stays home, Champs once more 2008. No artificial pig heart turning JR into a creepy weirdo, no lockout, no Clausen. Fox and Jake ride off into the sunset on their own terms. No 2-14, no #1 pick. But, no laptop, no Blinn, 3 years behind The Golden Calf of Bristol, we still get Cam. JR let's him grow his locs like he always wanted, Smitty sees Cam in a new light. Dreads swinging, (and Smitty with his 3 Lombardis behind him) Cam is old enough to get those calls. No Manning narrative, Cotchery TD, PI against Talib on Philly Brown, 10,000 RTP calls and Kony Ealy SB50 MVP. No Jeans Fridays, no Tepper. KB doesn't slip on his own meatsweat mid-route in SD, Cam becomes the 1st QB to win 10 straight SBs. Retiring after being elected 47th president of the US of A, Cam ushers in the Permanent Proletarian Revolution across the globe, Xi Jinping bows in awe. "ẄøŘƙƐṛ§ őF ŧĤə ŵØRłð, ŮŊÏŦƐ!!!"
    • Yeah your right the owner was copping hand shandies while all this was going down
    • I mean not surprised the Patriots took him in and aren't trying to push him out. They've been the most morally bankrupt team in the NFL for a long while. Wouldn't be surprised if Vrabel has his own dirt on Kraft/Brady and other assholes from that organization over the last couple decades.
