Thielen traded

That too but Smith will tell you that he wasn't nice to Cam... Shoot he even said it out loud for his NFL smack talker video a few years back.

It'd be hard for Cam to be the leader in the locker room with Smitty's personality. That probably had something to do with the trade as well.

I'd rather have Renfrow as insurance. My concern isn't Coker, it's XL. If XL doesn't step up, I'd put Coker in that role and Renfrow in the slot and keep it moving.

If XL goes down, look for Tremayne to be next man up. He was getting a lot of snaps with the 1s the last few weeks.

I mean if he wanted out, what can you do?  I got the compensation was good.  BUT, he's clearly our best receiver and we're trying to evaluate Bryce.  I hope it pans out and I really want Renfrow back if he can play.  We're one Coker injury away from having a team of unproven people and he's just an UFDA himself and still our most proven haha.

as the guy who spazzed out the loudest about Renfrow being cut....

I'll repeat it again after a day to think about it.  Hunter Renfrow plays a very specific niche and he is great at it.  But what Renfrow does, does not fit in a Dave Canales scheme.    Which I think is why he didn't land a spot.  Canales wasn't going to morph his O and Renfrow doesn't play the slot like AT does (2 completely different animals and functions in the slot.

AT was out there playing TE variant.  They were slow developing routes..   Renfrow is trying to break someone's ankle 5 yards downfield for an easy ball and quick strike.  Canales' entire tree is rooted in run, run, deep chunk ball.

This move.... doesn't make any sense unless its jsut to do Theilin a solid.

Or they're building up draft capital for another trade that's more valuable than a critical starting vet WR.

What player would a 2026 1st, 2027 1st, 2027 4th & 2026 5th pick get them? Parsons, 2027 2nd & a conditional 2027 5th?

That's the only play that makes any sense after going with Thielen for all of the pre-season and getting rid of Renfrow.

If all the Panthers got for this was a mid round pick, they may as well advertise that they're giving up for the season. The WR squad was suppose to be the big move to help Young & Thielen was key.

Which creates a problem with the current QB not fitting his system and why I firmly believe he has three years left unless everything just absolutely falls apart and it's not Bryces fault

The cowboys already turned down a better off thern that from the Packers. 2 firsts, a second and Gary.

100% true.  As much as I bash Bryce Young. It's failure by design.  It's why I went so hard at Frank Reich before it was popular.  Despite all the talk, nothing they were doing seemed to suggest they were aware they went all in on Bryce Young.   Same w/ Canales.  Don't let a couple random games of not being bad fool you...Bryce Young is opposite of what Dave Canales needs from his QB.

There was an article previously posted that highlighted how Canales morphed his offense over the course of the season to better fit Bryce.

His exact words were in that video, "after 30, every year is one more closer to retirement and we had some loosing seasons and I was frustrated. I took that out on cam and the team."

We had a good relationship early on but I wasn't patient with him and wasn't willing to be.

Steve even went after him in 2012 and said he didn't want to learn was a sulking baby.

Also said it wasn't Newton himself, just the fact it was a young QB and he was a vet who wanted a vet throwing to him and a chance to win.

After he didn't have a choice, but it isn't what he wants to run and the teams WR's aren't set up or appropriately skilled at what BY would ultimately need for a system.

The pieces don't fit together naturally is my point basically.
