So let me get this straight - Renfrow goes from not physically being ready per Canales to bonafide starter?

every year I say it.....you can not believe NFL coaches and teams.  They are not in the business of letting fans know what is actually going on behind the scenes.  Yet every season you got folks treating bullshitting coaches are speaking the unquestioned gospel.  They tell you what they want you to think, when they want you to think it.

Canales had to give a reason why his boy Moore was selected over Renfrow.  We know he isn't better.  All reports in camp back Renfrow as better.  His resume is better.  You got outside eyeballs on every rep.  So, if you are Dave....you have to bullshit up a reason to give your guy a spot.  Tell me a better made up one than the one Canales gave he could of sold folks?

NFL teams are in the sales job.  Canales sold his decision with overstated partial truths. How many Panthers are ready for a full game in FL heat week 1?  Which is why he now can just pretend like it wasn't a thing.

Renfrow is a niche/roleplaying slot WR.  He was good enough shape to be that.  Now, you can argue w/ Coker out....he isn't ready to play both Cokers and his reps.  That's starting reps.

Bryce Young still hasn’t shown he can open a season on the right foot. While he’s proven he can close strong, my expectations for these early weeks remain low until he demonstrates otherwise.

He does get a relatively soft matchup against the Jaguars, so hopefully he shows signs of putting the early-season struggles behind him, but I’m not overly optimistic just yet.

Doesn't help he barely had any preseason reps. We'll see.

im Over it

Year 3

he needs to be what he was drafted to be or he needs to be gone

too many shortcomings to deal with in pros

hope he proves me wrong but the pro defensive coordinators know all his tendencies now, including how he moves in the pocket

I hesitate to call this game a must-win, but we should beat this team even on the road if we want to be serious this season about anything.

for one the more winnable games on the schedule, it's a bad setup for us though.

We are sort of limping in.  Starters showed nothing in preseason to really get any excitement/confidence for week 1.   Team is sort of scrambling to get their basics in a row.  Last minute AT trade, Coker injury, now Icky injury.    Road game.

plus side, is Jags have an equally bad defense.  And Trevor Lawerence is Dr. Jeckyl and Mr Hyde.  Game to game and sometimes series to series.

No matter the order, Panthers need to find a way to be 3-2 through the first 5 IMO.  If they aren't best case becomes a 3-6 start I would think.

i am not sure I understand how this is supposed to be an easy win? the Jags have a much better team on paper than the Panthers & Liam Coen had one of the best offenses in the NFL last season with basically the same group of guys on offense that Canales had with a 20 ish ranked offense  ...just saying

Jags O is definitely the more threatening and dangerous O of the two....and the defenses are likely a push.

The Jags should be figuring out things more than us.  New coach. New system.  It needs to be a Panther W.

I think we get it done.

Eh, I am not so sure about that. We have 3 new WRs at 1, 3, and 4 or 5, and the number 2 guy couldn't catch important balls to save his life last year.

We don't even know if we will have our starting LT and the Jags have a solid pass rushing duo.

This game feels like a toss up to me. Especially if that Panthers start out sputtering like the last 2 years. I don't trust the practice tweets, the media said Bryce was killing it in practice before year 1 and 2 and he poo the bed immediately to start the season. I'm particularly looking to see if he can start off where he left off last year and not where he started the year at.

I'm definitely not sure about it.  The premise is that the offense starts fast and the defense does enough. I'm leaning more on Canales' assessment of Bryce than the media's.  They both seem confident. We'll see.

I don't think the Jags were any good in preseason either, but I could be wrong.

Trevor went 14 out of 17

Bryce went 4 out of 8

Trevor had 3 drives.  Scored on 2 of the 3.  Zero 3 and outs.

Bryce had 5 drives. Scored on 1.  Four 3 and outs.

I mean, if you had to pick one in terms of rolling into the season.  The Jags starters had a better preseason.
