I think Benjamin Zolak said it best: Put Bryce Young on a team with a great run game and great defense and he can be successful. Think of Brock Purdy.

Basically he is saying the last pick of the draft and Bryce Young are interchangeable.
Okay Purdy could have gone higher obviously. And I’d have probably taken Bryce if he were there in the late 3rd.
Edit: strictly on his size and arm, he would be off the board until then. Standards.

Purdy is better than Bryce.

I think if you swap Daniel Jones and Bryce Young the Colts are still 2-0 and Panthers are still 0-2 though.

Either way, there are only 6-8 teams happy with their QB play and we aren't one of them. We aren't alone. And it's not going to change next year if we draft a new QB, it's very rare to get a reliable, above average franchise QB nowadays. And even with Cam, we got 3 good years out of 8 with him. Same with Jake. 2003, 2005, 2008. We are definitely a "have not" franchise

Your reasoning is based on what you want. You are not operating on a basis any different from any other fan. We can argue all day about the pieces and the coaches around Bryce Young. The simple fact of the matter is as a first overall pick he is supposed to elevate those around him in situations too. We are not seeing that. In fact he is putting his team in early holes due to his physical limitations and his poor decision making. And he has done that now three consecutive years to start the season.

If you want to sing kumbaya now that's great brother I've got no problems with you but you have been the complete opposite of that for over a year now and spamming poo reactions over Bryce. You have been by no means an objective observer anymore than anyone else.

And no I am not going to quit the Panthers because Bryce Young becomes a bust. I mean you yourself have flip flopped on him multiple times so I really don't even know where you get the audacity to even suggest that lol. But again. Thanks for the conversation sir.

What do you make of CJ having a lower QBR currently than Bryce while also sitting at 0-2. That’s the guy you wanted right?

It's telling that you switch from making every excuse imaginable for Bryce Young for going on two+ years now to celebrating because Stroud and the Texans are 0-2.

I mean even if Stroud stays where he is now he will still be better than Bryce Young. Which isn't saying much granted. But he has 2 playoff wins in two years and even the Texans backup has a playoff win. That's 3 more playoff wins than anyone in our QB room including the veteran Dalton. And that franchise was one play away from the first overall pick two years ago.

I didn't even want to trade up. I didn't want to mortgage the future because we had already been doing that to no avail. But it wasn’t up to me. Once we did. I said we should take the best pure passer available. That was the only logical path forward at that point.

But if this is how you cope do you man. I'll be over here with the rest of the folks firmly residing in reality.

    • I can understand the logic. Going for 2 made sense the first time considering how far down we were. Then you don't get it and are basically forced to go for it the second time, too. Way down the list of concerns we have, IMO.
    • Rozeboom needs to get better before he's a JAG.
    • The successful teams in the NFL right now have one thing in common: Patience. Not just with their QB, but with every facet of the program. There are going to be successes and failures, but no one panics and makes reactive decisions. Look at the Eagles, the Bills, the Ravens, the Packers, and hell, even the (newly successful) Lions. All of them showed patience with their QB's growth, let their coaches do their jobs, have drafted well, developed their own players, and plugged holes in their roster and organization with players and situations that made sense. That's what we need. And if that isn't what we have now, we need to make moves to get it there. If that means they need to blow it up to start over, then blow it up and start it over the right way. If that means to change their approach from top to bottom, change it now. But the blueprint of success is out there in the league, teams just think they know better, or they don't have the discipline to follow through.
