We won, but Bryce and Canalas still blow

Look man you are going to have a hard time convincing me that a team missing 2 WRs and 2 OL needed to step back and air it out against a team that has been playing very well rushing the passer after getting a strong lead. That is just bad football in my eyes. He aired it out all day last week. There will be plenty of tape for us to look at.

The WR and OL issues have no bearing on how we use Bryce at this point unfortunately.

His rookie year, if we were in the same situation, sure, I'll accept this game plan in that case.

But this is his make or break it year in the franchise's eyes, if he's going to be our long term solution, he needs to be able to play well as a passer despite those injuries.

If we're not even willing to let him attempt to play like that when we do have them, if anything, I think that says a hell of a lot more about Bryce than this win says about anyone involved with this team right now.

I know you're a huge TMac fan (I am too but not as much as you) but this isn't how coaches think. You play to win the game with the best chance possible. Tmac got targeted plenty btw and had a few drops by his own standards.

The point is that we were always going to win this game in the 2nd half, and we just went more and more conservative as the game went on, when we should have been going the other way to let Bryce see what he can do.

Hell, I'd have thought it would have been dumb as they need to build their connection, but even if we sat T-Mac but continued to air it out, I'd have been okay with it.  Because this season isn't about T-Mac, it's about Bryce and we just wasted a PERFECT opportunity to let him prove himself.

Not a good take after a shutout blowout win over a division opponent. If they squeaked out an undeserved win like if they managed to win last week you might have a point

the only team that couldn't have beat the falcons today was the falcons.

that looked like the first day of training camp install

The sunshine pumpers will claim superb owl after today. Sheep.  They will kiss teppers ass and say Bryce is the best. I can’t wait to read it. Esp when pillows and Canalas suck it up again next week

You’re arguing with a figment of your imagination.

I have to say I’ve been very critical of Bryce and to a lesser extent Canalas but today I was shocked.  I thought Canalas hit the nail on its head.  Short, dink and dunk passes is and extension of the run game.  Bryce was very good at that today so I’ll give credit where it is due and eat my crow.  Canalas drew up the perfect game plan today for the talent he has.  I’m still in shock, the D deserves a major shout out from most of us as does Evero.  They were terrific today!

Nah we rattled them. All forced errors. They couldn’t handle all the noise at BOA. They were confused by all of our exotic looks and our players just physically dominated them across the board…

Wishful thinking but I do feel confident the truth is somewhere in between and the team deserves at least a little more credit than you’re giving them.

I also think people are looking at the shutout and 30 point win and forgetting that it only happened because of two missed FGs and Penix gifting us some turnovers that were his fault and not something our defense caused.

So yea, we won, we had a shutout, but I'd still say those things were much more because of the Falcons own mistakes than us forcing them into those.

I think this is a bit disingenuous. Sure, they missed a 49 yard field goal to start, although I'd say that wouldn't have dramatically affected the game being up 3-0 especially since we played aggressive on the first drive regardless and marched up the field for a TD. Plus a 49 yarder isn't exactly a chip shot. The 2nd missed fg, I give 99% of the credit to the Panthers. They have a demoralizing turnover that gifts the Falcons the ball around the Panthers 30 yard line and then proceed to play unbelievably good defense to actually force negative yardage in 3 plays, setting up a much more challenging 55 yard field goal that is essentially a 50/50 prospect for all but the top few kickers in the league. That's not the Falcons bungling it; that's the Panthers asserting their dominance.

The int td by Smith-Wade was an incredible break on the ball. It's not like Penix overthrew the receiver by 10 yards and it hit Smith-Wade in the chest. That was a hell of a play. The 2nd interception, it wasn't a good throw, but the receiver slipped and we were already up 20-0 at that point. So even if he just throws an incompletion, it doesn't dramatically change the game's complexion. And when you win 30-0, you think that happens when the opponent plays flawlessly? Of course you can point to Falcons mistakes. But it still takes a great performance to capitalize.

To your later points about not letting Bryce air it out when the game was in hand, when would you suggest they had done that? Cause it was still a 3 score game into the early 4th quarter. You really think Canales should have assumed there was zero possibility a team can make 3 TDs in a full quarter with 3 TOs and the 2 minute warning? Yeah I think its fair to say it was over when we went up 27-0 with about 10 minutes left. But by the time we got the ball back, there was 8 minutes left in a 27-0 game. Every team in the NFL is playing safe run out the clock there. And even if Bryce gets a couple deep throws in against a demoralized Falcons defense that's not playing for anything but maybe pride at that point, you think you've learned a lot about Bryce's potential? I wouldn't.
