Footwork and extended drop backs definitely exacerbate challenges he faces due to his stature. We saw that much when he returned from benching and showed improvement in both areas. I think that he's still pressing too... when the team gets behind, he tries to force the magic rather than allowing it to happen (bailing on pockets too early, speeding up his reads, and insisting on throwing it downfield rather than taking the checkdown on scrambles are the three that stick out the most to me).

That said... the OL has to protect to allow a QB to set their feet. We saw that in Bryce's rookie season and the first two weeks of this one (and we're seeing it over in Houston with CJ). The blitz pick-up looked much better with Mays as the center, especially with Bryce calling adjustments for the RB in pass pro. There were times where it looked like Bryce would tell Dowdle to block one way while Corbett had the line blocking another. 🙏

I am not ready to call Mays a big upgrade with the small sample size but Corbett really set the bar very low this season. He was absolutely terrible.

I liked the physical potential in AR, but I always thought he had maturity issues on the field and it was going to take the right coach to reign him in before his playing style led to the end of his career. He couldn't be Cam light because he lacked the size to take the punishment and the was some obvious emotional immaturity that we all have at that age.

That said, the only coaches I thought might be able to handle him was Ben Johnson, Steichen, Ryans or Dan Campbell. There was no way I would have ever traded up for him. Even at 9 he would have been a risky pick. He was always a project QB to sit a year at minimum like Love. As soon as Reich was named HC, he went off my board.

Isn't Richardson only a little smaller than Newton?

He needed to sit a year and sort out his footwork. He had the highest ceiling of the three QBs taken. Now you've wasted two years of his development.

Hey, I wish the guy the best. He was nothing but a great player here. No hard feelings, hope he and his family are happy to be back home.

But, we move on. Got some young guys on the squad that are going to get more field time now that he has moved on. Hopefully it's a win/win for everyone.
