Footwork and extended drop backs definitely exacerbate challenges he faces due to his stature. We saw that much when he returned from benching and showed improvement in both areas. I think that he's still pressing too... when the team gets behind, he tries to force the magic rather than allowing it to happen (bailing on pockets too early, speeding up his reads, and insisting on throwing it downfield rather than taking the checkdown on scrambles are the three that stick out the most to me).

That said... the OL has to protect to allow a QB to set their feet. We saw that in Bryce's rookie season and the first two weeks of this one (and we're seeing it over in Houston with CJ). The blitz pick-up looked much better with Mays as the center, especially with Bryce calling adjustments for the RB in pass pro. There were times where it looked like Bryce would tell Dowdle to block one way while Corbett had the line blocking another. 🙏

I am not ready to call Mays a big upgrade with the small sample size but Corbett really set the bar very low this season. He was absolutely terrible.

I liked the physical potential in AR, but I always thought he had maturity issues on the field and it was going to take the right coach to reign him in before his playing style led to the end of his career. He couldn't be Cam light because he lacked the size to take the punishment and the was some obvious emotional immaturity that we all have at that age.

That said, the only coaches I thought might be able to handle him was Ben Johnson, Steichen, Ryans or Dan Campbell. There was no way I would have ever traded up for him. Even at 9 he would have been a risky pick. He was always a project QB to sit a year at minimum like Love. As soon as Reich was named HC, he went off my board.

Isn't Richardson only a little smaller than Newton?

He needed to sit a year and sort out his footwork. He had the highest ceiling of the three QBs taken. Now you've wasted two years of his development.

Hey, I wish the guy the best. He was nothing but a great player here. No hard feelings, hope he and his family are happy to be back home.

But, we move on. Got some young guys on the squad that are going to get more field time now that he has moved on. Hopefully it's a win/win for everyone.

So you really think he can't throw to the endzone from the 50? I'm not saying he has the strongest arm in the NFL, but he has more than enough arm to make all the on schedule throws. Now, I agree he ain't gonna be throwing across his body 45 yards down the field. He ain't that.

No I don't! Do you? Why didn't he throw to the endzone?

Anyone that has been watching CJ Stroud knows he's never stopped being capable of performances like that. He's had some struggles but, unlike our 3rd year signal caller, he's already shown over an extended period he belongs. Now the question is if he can return to that elevated play longer term or not.

I agree. In the end Stroud could reach the potential he flashed in his rookie season or he could just end up being mid. Who knows who cares at this point. The folks dunking on him are just fools carrying the water of the Tepper's no matter how loud they get or how many posts they poo. We should have never traded up to begin with. The cost was too great. We should have built the roster patiently and intelligently. And the source of these woes is 100% without question whatsoever our ownership.

I haven’t made a deal out of CJ since we left 2023. It isn’t a thing I look at.
I root for him if I see his game but that means nothing. Just became familiar with him and wanted to take him but Bryce stands or falls on his own and CJ Stroud’s success or failure is irrelevant to Young does.

I mean that extends to head to head. Because they are not head to head at all. They are playing against a defense.
People trying to make it mean something so they can one up somebody? Meh whatever.
frank and completely, you guys are cracking me up tonight

    • Hello there.  We are rolling out a complete overhaul of the Huddle. Why: Frankly this site is so old the database and antiquated software has gotten unmanageable. There is not much we can do to fix anything anymore. The new site is wired for the future including getting back in the app stores.    When:  Hopefully by early July so that we can test and recover things. After the migrations we will still have access to the old site behind the scenes to bring over anything we missed.    Wait, will I lose anything?  We are only bringing over topics and posts from the past calendar year. The tinderbox is being set on fire and rolled off a cliff. All it ever did was made this place feel horrible all while changing approximately 0 minds in 20 years.  The new site will only have 4 forums to keep this joint Carolina team sports focused. Panthers, Hornets, Charlotte FC, Hurricanes.    Improved Moderation  This is a clean slate for us, as such if you are a problematic member (you know who you are) that enjoys getting banned and coming back, we aim to make it much more difficult for you. However, upon the move your slate is clean. Take advantage of it.  We would love to get this place back to what it used to be. Nice folks with friendly banter centered around Carolina sports. We will be using the BAN HAMMER liberally to rid this place of people who aren't interested in that or try to drag the new site back into the gutter.   New Features With new tech comes new features we will be rolling out over the rest of the year.    What about the damn ads?  Fewer and less problematic ads. Again, new tech allows for this. Without ads this place gets shut down.    What if I can't login?  If you can't login due to not being able to reset your password from the login screen, email [email protected] with your username and we will get you squared away.    Let me know if you have any specific questions.
