DJ Johnson cut

Recommended Posts

I speculated about a power struggle over the D after reflecting on Canales saying he was pushing  for the young guys to play and watching the next couple of weeks.
If I were a coach and a subordinate defies me by playing a player I would cut the player and tell him okay now you have to play the young guys.

Trading up for DJ Johnson was pre-planned

The Panthers' trade up for Oregon pass rusher DJ Johnson received a lot of criticism around the league and especially around the city. He only had one full year of playing the position and only posted six sacks. That said, the combination of his freakish athleticism and raw power are what gave the front office conviction to go up and get him.

More interestingly, Frank Reich told Fitterer and Dan Morgan in the video to go back to his office at the end of the night to look at the whiteboard where it had Johnson's name circled with a note beside it to trade up. This shows that they didn't panic when pass rushers were starting to fly off the board and just aimlessly traded up to make sure they got one. They went up to get a guy they liked and planned on doing so.

go to minute 32  "good player"

we are so fuged

Unpacking that whole dynamic is really something. First of all how everyone there is so used to David and Nicole Tepper just being completely involved that it's just another day. Then Dan Morgan just being a complete and utter yes man to his former best friend Scott Fitterer. At the end of the day all of these people are just sycophants to ownership. Nothing will improve until they completely remove themselves from the equation or sell the team.

Chief Administrative Officer of Tepper Sports and Entertainment and wife of owner David Tepper, Nicole has played an integral part behind the scenes in recent years. From establishing a healthy culture within the organization to attending pro days, Tepper's been a highly-acclaimed member of the Carolina braintrust.

Establishing a "healthy culture within the organization" they said.
