30 pass

32 run

Were you watching a re-run?

the runs happened AFTER bryces mistakes.  We need to grind more early.  That drive to set up the XL td, it was all run, it was us imposing our will and simplifying the playbook for the O-line.  See man, hit man, the end. Next play, same.

I know this will get eye rolls coming from me and after a win, but I'm less concerned about that than I am the actual play calls when we do pass it.

T-Mac had 73 of 198 yards receiving today, or 37% of our passing yards for the game.

T-Mac had 8 targets on 30 pass attempts, or 27% of our targets.

T-Mac had 6 catches on those 8 targets, the two he didn't catch was one play that 100% should have been called PI, and the other Bryce sailed the ball out of bounds to where T-Mac couldn't even attempt a catch on it.

When you throw the ball 30 times and your 2nd leading WR has 31 yards on the game, there's no logical reason for your Top WR to have only 8 targets.

I'm sorry, but none of that adds up, why are you not even trying to throw the ball to your best player in the 2nd half of a game you're losing?

If we just barely passed the ball in the 2nd half, I'd get it, but that wasn't the case, again, we had 30 pass attempts today, only 8 went to our best player and top draft pick, it makes no sense.

We won, great, awesome, but it was more because of the Dolphins poor tackling allowing us to have some huge runs than anything we did to actually beat them.  So when that happens, I'm still going to be frustrated by the play calling and decision making by Canales and Bryce.

I'm sorry but this is just dumb.  This season is about one thing and one thing only:  evaluating Bryce.  Nothing else matters.

Every time he throws it to T-Mac, it makes me angry.  Why?  Anyone can throw to that guy, he's too good.  What do we learn when Bryce makes another completion to T-Mac?  We learn nothing, it's just a waste.

We need throws to third string rookie TEs.  We need our OL to let at least one rusher through into Bryce's face every play.  That's the only way we can know if Bryce is our future.

I felt that way before the season started, but I'm sorry, he's already proven he isn't that guy, I don't need to learn anything more about him.

He threw the ball 30 times today and could only throw for 198 yards, which was his 2nd best yardage game this year, he's just not the guy.

Which means this season has already moved onto the 2nd most important thing going into this season after evaluating Bryce, and that's developing our best young players.

You don't do that by only throwing 8 of your 30 passes to your best player who is still only a rookie.  Pepper him with targets and help develop him so he's ready to take a huge leap next year when we get a real HC and QB to get him the ball.

    • I mean, I think you're being a little hyperbolic with the last statement, but point taken.
    • Pass rush was the biggest issue in tonight’s game, and we were tied for 28th in sacks this season. That is a major area of need that has to get addressed this offseason. I just don’t see a path where there’s a game changing QB you can bring in with where we are drafting and quality of veterans that will be available. We certainly can do better than Dalton as a backup, and should ideally have a developmental guy  (perhaps a day 3 pick this year). We have bryce for one more year on a reasonable contract and then I think 2027 is the year that you reset that position (unless he massively improves).
    • Agreed, honestly basically bringing this group back as a healthy unit would be alright.  Brady Christensen should be resigned to a very reasonable deal with him recovering from the Achilles.  Atleast we're alright at 4 of our 5 spots with Lewis, Mays, Hunt, and Moton, Nijman was decent.  While if we can snag a deal on someone, take a stab, however our resources need to go to Linebacker, Pass Rush and a real option outside Tmac (coker is amazing, but if we can get someone who isnt braindead opposite Tmac, we can fully unleash Coker AND Tmacs full potential, cant move him into the slot if racoon boy is out there licking doorknobs).
