It’s time to discuss DANimal Morgan as our GM

It's week six and our wins were against opponents that have serious flaws. They've been refreshing to see, but let's get some more W's or L's before we start making any pronouncements on Morgan's future.

The tea leaves are barely wet at this point. Let them settle before you try to read them.

You people keep making me defend the 2024 class.

Look XL might as well be 2nd rounder, guys drafted in the 30s-50s do not have what the first round 1-10 have. There's a huge gap. *Most drafts have a tier system that varies. 1-8, 9-14, 15-30, 30-50. Each level there's a huge talent fall or more risk involid. SInce Im a interwebz grandpa, "Back in my day" WRs took 3 full seasons before you knew the ones that had the talent. XL still has time to figure it out and if he doesn't, toss on 20 LBs and give TE a try.....Ive seen him blocking the number off players recently... I still holding out he and BY and...Dave can ALL figure out how to break XL out of the slump.

Im not going to defend Brooks, it was wrong. I heard they viewed him as a first rounder, still.......no more.

Wallace is looking better each week after that terrible week one, he's looking more and more like a great pick now.

Sanders- a little unlucky, but he's the #1 TE on the roster. He's just got to figure out the silly minor injuries bug. Great pick for a 4th if he does,

CSW- Unlucky with minor injuries too, but he's the starting NB. Great pick for the 5th round too as he's a legit starter.

Crumedy- part of a deep DL and facts are he is the 50s on roster ranks. Still for a 208, that's about what's normally happens. He's still on the team and next year could have a better role.

UDFA- Coker and RIchardson. They also signed Tremayne form that year, he made the deeeeep WR group and plays a solid ST.

Im a former draft nerd... If you draft 2 starters and a top backup, that's a good/great draft. *Thus far this 2024 class has netted 4 starters, one backup, and one prayer. If you include and should the UFDA its increases the impact.

You can hold out all you want on XL but don't hold your breathe.

Wallace is still a work in progress and could turn out to be a starting caliber ILB

Sanders is still a ?. Best ability is availability and he's shown so far in his short career that his body isn't holding up to NFL physicality or speed.

CSW does got that dog in him but again still haven't seen enough tbh.

Im not even gunna argue the Crumbley pick considering it was needed and wtf everyone pretty much throwing darts at this point

Big fan of Coker and hopeful for Richardson.

Thats why I said I don't hold 2024 over DM I think he is learning which is all I want to see right now. Growth and a roadmap which we had neither before him, I believe he wants to establish the teams we all loved. Bruising, fast defense and an Oline/RB combo that punches people in the mouth repeatedly.

Was 2024 terrible as much as people think NO but it's close IMO.....

Too honest and very fair.

This draft class does change drastically weekly, never seen this happen before. One week 4 legit starters blah blah, next week Dans 2024 dud class doesn't have ANY positive impact!!

You are right about XL and facts are he's still not doing much even with the TD and screen play(wow one play each week!!!)....More is needed. Not to make excuses, but I am looking at BY and Dave for some of the blame. Plus there is only one ball, Tmac already getting lions share, Rico even getting targets and should, TEs, and the other WRs deserve looks too. XL needs to show more. FYI he was wiiiiiiiiiiddddeeee open for a TD early in game, BY just didn't see...

I got it at 50/50 brooks is able to resister a NFL snap....Still what Rico has been blessing us with, Brooks has that type of talent too. He's the ultra wildcard for that 24 class. Right now if Rico was a FA, Panthers would get one nice comp pick.....

Sanders is another wildcard, he was second on the team in recs and yards before the injury(fairly sure). Like he was about to break-out and be a difference maker. If he can get fully healthy and remain, those 2 TEs set will be great to watch...

On that wide open XL play Young did see him and was actually throwing to him but his arm was hit by the free rusher in his face. Everyone saw it and so did Young. There were a few others but Dallas defense pass rush saved them.

XL obviously is the biggest disappointment so far early in the season. I really thought he was gunna come out hot, but in reality it's been nice cold 🥶 🥶 🥶 🥶

I am not giving up on him since I am a forever non BY believer but he has got to step up in this offense

He has actually done better than I anticipated after his camp and preseason and the opening two games.
When you have Tet and Rico is rolling like that he just needs to keep on blocking. There was a play Sunday he could have scored on with one block. It didn’t happen.

Yeah he has work to do but I’m not freaking out over him yet.
I would like to point out that people who are slow learners can still be sure learners it just takes them longer.

I do not know how much the G.M.’s trust their college scouts and their opinions. However, I think it is worth noting that there has been some changes in our college scouting in the last two years. Sometimes that can be more important than we realize.

    • A winning record would be nice, but I still have us winning around the 6 to 8 game mark. Realistically we should beat the Jets and Saints, that gets us to 5 wins. After that, we have to face a lot of potential play off teams and our divisional opponents. I think we’ll win 1 or 2 of those games to take us to 6 or 7 wins, perhaps 8 wins if we can spring a further surprise.  Is that enough progress for head coach and QB? I’m not sure, it will depend on performances and output. That said, it’s nice to be back in a position where we are thinking about the play offs.
    • I would tend to agree about not falling into the trap and paying a below average QB, but sometimes situations can “force” a team to pay that QB. For example, if we play ourselves into a 9-8 like record, then what options will we have in the draft? Or do we avoid the draft and trade for or sign someone in free agency?  I’m not convinced by the 2026 QB draft class. There’s some intriguing prospects but no one that really screams “draft me”. I’m not sure we’ve got anyone really that stands out as a trade candidate or free agent signing. So although we might not want to commit a big money contract to Young, him playing well and showing progress might force the team’s hand.
    • Realistically we would be looking at no more than a mid round pick for Dowdle or Chuba. Are we really that desperate for a mid round pick? Not really. I would much prefer us utilise the two RBs in a 1-2 punch similar to how we used D-Will and Stewart. After all, Bryce is not Drew Brees. He won’t throw for 300+ yards and carry the team consistently as a passer. So having a strong running game with a 1-2 punch will be beneficial to him, and it will also be beneficial to the RBs because we can spell them and not overwork them.
