We all agree they’re great at run blocking and data shows 3rd in NFL in run block win rate.  But I would really like more balance with pass protection. Only 27th in pass block win rate is disappointing and needs fixing if we want a more balanced attack.image.thumb.png.f3db658b4f7015149ab33858081450bc.png

Given we have the highest investment in the OL in the league which is only going to increase when we ink Icky to his extension that is unacceptable to say the least. Hopefully they can improve as the season progresses.

I mean, literally almost every player on that starting OL and even backup unit are predominantly run block heavy guys. We did very intentionally build the line in that manner.

It would be nice for them to be more balanced on the pass blocking side but the outcome isn't unexpected, IMO.

if they are going to be really good at one and suck at the other this is definitely going to lead to more wins than the other way around would. The less Bryce has to pass the ball the better tbh

Well, you really have to be an elite running unit for that to work....most of the time. You still need some level of creativity in the offense. Ask the post-Kellen Moore Eagles.

You could argue Bryce is inhibited with subpar pass blocking

Or the passblocking is worse because of Bryce. It's obviously limited to fit his ability and it's predictable in what they can & want to do.

You either win your pass block or you don’t. Bryce is responsible for calling adjustments at the line so he may have a hand in it too

    • Everybody made too much of that. The CBA and the 17 game schedule is what kills the cohesion we see in teams across the league in the opening games.  You decide, look at your depth and make informed decisions there or you get a an extra quarter or whatever two quarters with your ones.  Teams that are set don’t have those openings as much down the roster to evaluate but that ain’t everybody. It is quandary. I think they need that 4th preseason game back. But as I said, I don’t lay that as the excuse for Bryce to come out looking like he does to start seasons. He has an entire camp.
    • Hey I said the 1pm west coast team, I said the up down up down and we were due for the up week.  You can’t know what is going to happen. There was a guy that detailed why the league would engineer a Panthers win to bring LA Rams back to the pack in conference standings.  Who really knows, and how much real belief do you have when citing these things? I generally have as much as my superstition allows. It rarely rises to an emotional experience. Usually it is more analytical. In terms of interest. When crazy poo happens and we win a game like today I for sure enjoy it.  I mean you have to think about it, how many times do you connect 2 4th and short situations for TDs? Who does that? That is like the most embarrassing thing for the Rams’ defense lol. That never happens and should never happen.  Expecting it to happen might not be a good plan. But it was pretty great
    • The defense has mostly stuck to the "break slowly" and get a turnover or two still zero pass rush
