Considering how wide the gap is between our spending on the offense versus the defense for the year I would say overall the defense has held up their end of the bargain and then some.

Now it's up to the offense to manage more than one measly trip to the end zone.

That was worse than Bryce's worst NFL game of his career to date.

I'm not sold on Penix as a long-term starting QB yet, but he's normally a lot better than that. Dude looked like a guy signed off the couch who was gonna go right back to the couch. LOL

I mean... we haven't exactly faced competent offensive attacks yet, much less world-beaters. I expect Sunday to bring things into clearer view.

I don’t think I’d rank them that high but they are much improved and you don’t hold NFL teams to like 50 yards over two games. I forget the exact number but it was awful low.

This defensive run started with a Got Dam dominate performance against a top 5 offense ATL….. We followed that up by dominating defensively the run game and containing the Number one offense in the NFL. That line about playing weak competition is so far left field yes we’ve played bad teams but we’ve also played A1 teams as far as offense goes so let’s give these boys more then just credit let’s give them their just due louder then we gave them the disrespect last season for the sudden change and outstanding work they’ve been doing so far this year!!!!

The D has been a pleasant surprise and I give them credit for a huge improvement over last year but linville (who I often disagree with) absolutely has a point here. Falcons are not a top 5 offense lol, they are bottom 5 by scoring offense and Penix played his worst game of the year against us. Cowboys are good but we allowed 27, not horrible like last year we'd have allowed 40+, but still not great. Dolphins got 24, pats got 42 on us, Jags 26. Our overall stats are skewed by the Atlanta shutout and playing the Jets' awful offense. 

Don't get me wrong, I've been impressed by the D, largely Horn/Brown and the rookies, but it's been a pretty easy schedule and they still haven't been outstanding. Just solid.

Off ball LB is such a massive weakness though, so unlike historical Panthers teams which have always had great LBs. Secondary has been solid and pass rush/run D from DL/off ball LB a nice surprise so far, but man we need to upgrade that 2nd level badly. Also I still don't like Evero or his 3-4 lol

Can't do it all in one offseason. Hopefully they make some progress in the draft.

A good offseason would go a long way. Pass rush and ILB are still weak as hell. Of course, this season we’ll have the two edge guys  getting schooled and a good offseason for them should see them come back as upgrades.
