we really could have just kept Darnold and actually built a line around him and gave him some playmakers. People forget how good he was playing here until CMC got hurt

The same people who blasted Darnold for being a gunslinging turnover machine now want us to trade for a gunslinging turnover machine.

Even if we don't, if Dalton mimics last year's performance, we need to look for better, though it will cost us to cut him.

Yeah. I don't think Dalton is Flacco. But, most didn't think Flacco was Flacco.

I am fine with rolling with Dalton this year but you can't bank your future on a late 30's QB. That is a bridge guy at the absolute best. And it's a short ass bridge, at that.

We may learn a couple of different things on Sunday. Or rather have a couple theee questions answered.
I am like, Dalton wash level, Canales play calling will it contrast or or not, maybe something else. Should answer some defense questions too.

I like Dan and Dave. I think they can build this thing. Dave’s energy alone gives him a leg up on cornball conman Rhule and the dry Thanksgiving leftovers that was Frank Reich. Dave needs to have a real OC, he’s not a great play caller and needs to focus on the Pete Carroll rah rah schtick. Things change fast tho. We were supposed to have a ready made OLine Bryce’s rookie year, Bozeman got fat, Ickys sophomore slump and a slew of injuries. It was hell. Had to bring a Brinks truck for two guards. Getting over the hump in the NFL is a tall task. Staying over it is nearly impossible without Brady/Mahomes. If they get behind somewhere before showing consistency it will be over for them too.

Agree with a lot of that. Juat going to add that a big issue with teams that lack patience and commitment is they also lack continuity. They sacrifice it for the now.
I think the media stole this from  me but I thought we had alignment with the coach and the front office that we had not had for a long time. Very important. Kidding about the media but I promise I didn’t steal that from them.
They are both green and we need to try and have some patience with them because there are always bad decisions. Or mistakes. Everyone makes them.

Different reason tho. DC's offense runs best with a gunslinger. It's to judge his offense and capabilities and to allow our players to work under a QB that can run that offense. It can tell us if it's the pieces surrounding Bryce, Bryce, DC, a combo, none of the above. It could answer questions we need answers to

I guess we're debating the level of Tepper's involvement... again.  I can only gauge based on evidence.  Since Morgan has been GM it seems to me like football guys have been making football decisions.

It looks like we can make good decisions when we removed the mandate to pump up the offense.
Yes we took McMillan instead of defense this year but that seemed more a BPA this time around. And some pretty astute calls were made as the draft transpired. Or at least at this early stage they seem to be that.
You want to help out your team? You have that draft. It has looked like that all season and still does.
