I'm All In On Drafting a QB in Round 1

Depends on perspective. I do think the talent is great. Whether T-Mac reaches his potential is another story, especially within these current circumstances. Some of the metrics are really good already (like average yards per catch). Even PFF already had him as the 20th or so best WR in the league.

T Mac is already a great receiver.  We've got great talent behind him but they aren't yet great players (Horn and Coker - the later is obviously further along). TE has some bright spots.  But TMac is already, despite the shitty QB play, a great receiver, as you say.

I'm hopeful that we will be able to get someone in here that can really take advantage of what TMac can offer and we'll see how good he is. Because there's little else this week but hope for the future, heh.

Unpopular opinion here but I would not mind picking up Diego Pavia in the 3rd or 4th round. The dude has this Moxie about him that I really like and he is tough. I know many probably won't want him because he is undersized but I love his confidence.

Not another short guy w/ who needs to wind up and plant his feet to throw intermediate/long.  I like him more than Bryce for sure though.

We have had one of the bottom 5 QB rooms in the NFL three years running. Obviously we shouldn't force it and reach but there is absolutely no logical reason QB should not be firmly on the table in the first two rounds. In fact you could even argue drafting one in the later rounds as well. It is the most important position on the field and the decision makers should treat it as such or they will surely find themselves looking for work elsewhere sooner or later.

This board filled with bad decisions

I disagree, a lot of people on here have said their opinions on signees, draftees, coaching hires, who to play etc and have made better decisions than the front office. Not saying they could run a team, but they seem to be better armchair GMs than our current regime the last 6 years.

ChatGPT would do a better job.  Can't overthink things if you don't think at all.

This board has been more collectively right in the past 3ish years then our poo front office

It's a sad reality that the Panthers would've honestly been better off over the past several years to make major decisions via Huddle poll than going with the decisions they actually made. People say "oh, you think you know more than the professionals?" No, I don't. I know that. That's why it's so baffling watching them making obvious huge blunders in real time.

    • Ron's two seasons he took to figure it out would be massive successes compared to the 2018-Present period. Those 6 and 7 win seasons look pretty great now.  Do you honestly think he will jump up to a 10+ win year in 2026? That's what Ron did.

    • You might want to look at that table again.  Round 2 has the least QB's taken in that time period. What is more interesting is how the "darts at a dart board" happens in the 6th and 7th round. Those are the 2nd and 3rd most frequently drafted rounds for NFL QB's.  If you are strictly using my criteria for "success" it does lend credence to that not being an awful strategy. At 17-21% chance to get a bare minimum of 30+ starts OR a 5+ year career. That's pretty good for a very throwaway pick. I don't know how that would compare to other positions. I would maybe have to adapt what I have done to something like PFR's Career AV to set a line that accomplished roughly the same result as I have from the spreadsheet. If I can get to a number value, applying this to each position wouldn't be that hard. Not sure how "fair" that is without making some adjustment based on averages for each position. I would have to do that as well, I think. A positional "handicap" of sorts.
