I don’t agree with much he says, but I don’t care about personal views on players on my teams, as long as they aren’t committing crimes I’m fine with them

Except Bryce right?  You are constantly bashing him

Darnold is a great quarterback when.... The oline is elite and doesn't give up any pressure.

We saw what happened to darnold here and with minny when the oline allows pressure - he starts seeing ghosts and throws bad passes...

Don't get me wrong. I still wish he was here - but he is a quarterback that will crumble when faced with adversity

Not surprised. I fully expect a professional QB to mature and lead a pro team after they turn 27. Panthers had Darnold when he was 24/25. A team needs to be built to win before inserting a younger QB as they will need to be carried and protected

It's a waste of time and draft capital to go after a young QB in the top 20 picks.

Wild take.  So you think guys like Drake Maye are a waste of draft capital?

Is this his 4th team already? Panthers, Jets, Vikings and Seahawks?

spending a year learning with shanahan with the 49ers and then with KOC in minny helped save his career

funny enough, darnold would be the perfect QB in canales system

Yeah, Shanahan helped him a lot.

Also, I think he is the type of player that needs about 7-8 years in the NFL to mature.

People forget that he had a lifetime total of three years playing QB going into college at USC.

He should have stayed in school his entire career and his NFL transition may not has been as rough.

People are also jumping to the conclusion that Darnold would have figured it out here. I very much disagree. He needed a place where he could be a backup for a while with no pressure. So all the pining over him was pointless. Highly unlikely he would do anything but continue to fail had he stayed here.

The one that got away was Baker. He was not as bad as he seemed here. He was always a good player but we were a two bit, middle of the road college program grasping at straws.

Had we invested the time in Baker that we have done for Bryce, history would have been quite a bit different. To what end, who knows?

Doesn't matter. There are a million hindsight stories that are very unkind to this franchise. There is no one that is more significant than the other. It is what it is.

My biggest issue with keeping Darnold, which I felt we should have done, is we would still have Fitterer. And everything that came with that.  I think Morgan is going to be good.

Baker, just did not play well at all here. Not sure what else we were supposed to take away from it at the time.

That’s my short ‘I don’t want to argue about it’ take.

So funny see people continue to talk like Darnold isn’t one of the best QBs in the NFL for the second season in a row. Two different teams and situations, he is for real and not just a product of the system.   He struggles under pressure lol what QB doesn’t? Did anyone watch Mahomes in the SB?

Darnold had 35 passing touchdowns last season and looked to be on a team assuredly primed for a run until he met the Rams in the playoffs and had an historical meltdown

He's seemed to have found his stride in the regular season since leaving Carolina. It remains to be seen if he will ever be successful in the playoffs.

He folded under pressure for sure but Rams were also better than people thought.  If he can overcome the mental hurdle of choking under pressure he could lead them to a championship.

I just have to think that he was simply unfortunate to come into the league to the Jets and then be traded to the Panthers, one terrible franchise and another now shaky franchise that has been terrible as of late. Not to mention Baker, but Sam Darnold looks like a totally different QB. He's out there slinging with confidence, going through progressions, making reads, taking what the defense is giving him, and then pushing the ball down the field without fear.

My goodness, someone here really screwed the pooch. I don't know where Fitterer is, but the dumpy car salesman just got an extension. I wish I knew all the other dodo heads who were in on our layers of failure pertaining to Darnold, you know the ones that are supposed to help QBs develop and those giving input on personnel, but I hope that they have other employment.

In other news, we could have had Steve McNair in the 1995 draft....
