Ekwonu on why the Panthers lost

The whole "victory Monday off" thing sure looks brilliant in hindsight. Said at the time I didn't care and all that matters is the results but leave it to the Panthers to start feeling themselves after squeaking to their first barely winning record on damn near a decade and acting like they are somebody now just to lose to a team playing for the #1 overall pick.

On the flip side this win might take the Saints out of the running for the first overall pick

Culture...

A problem outside of Young is Canales’ leadership style. Can’t say I’m a fan of having a player led culture when maybe 1-2 of your leaders have actually experienced winning. Maybe if we had a host of veterans that all came from winning organizations and had success. While l like them, I don’t know what Jaycee Horn, Chuba Hubbard, Taylor Moton, and Derrick Brown know about winning in the NFL.

It may.be young guys he is referring to. Immature poo. We don’t know who though. Glad he said something publicly.

A lot of the locking them in is on the position coaches afaic.

I imagine he would be talking about the offensive side of the ball. That’s where most of his time, meetings, and game planning is going to be. I don’t think he would be around the defense much. Probably some of the younger guys, TEs/WRs maybe.

Canales also has little experience with setting culture, either.

Young or old, I have felt like Canales does not have strong culture established. Seems like more of a Mike McDaniels "buddy coach" like of guy. Minus all the offensive genius.

    • He's apparently told the school that he was interested, hence why they are waiting.
    • That makes me wonder, how many starting tackles in the NFL and/or elite tackles have short arms? I feel like there’s probably lots of tackles that end up being drafted in later rounds because they had short arms or didn’t have the physical tools.     also why not draft a tackle in the later rounds that we could move to guard or center if they fail, instead of drafting a center? If we draft a center we know they aren’t going to play tackle but if you draft a tackle they could end up playing any of the 3 positions, look at BC for example. It feels like it’s a better decision to draft a tackle in later rounds than a center.
    • Damn back to 10th. I only caught the last 5 minutes but some of those 3's were horrible lol. In that close of game you can't be launching those many hail mary's when you could be chipping away from the foul line. I guess no one wanted to get in the paint and didn't trust the refs to give them the calls maybe? Gonna watch the highlights to get a better idea of the flow of the game
