Trevor Lawrence available next year?

I am from SC, and was a fan in his college days, and am white and have long hair too. Or I need a haircut anyway.

Still, I can’t feel this at all. Too much money and too little certainty. Okay he has been to the playoffs and had a good game or two, but the money is too much for the likely return.

If you adjust for drops Trevor is still bottom third in most categories.

I have a good friend who’s a really knowledgeable jags fan and she says overall he’s just mid. Jags have a ton of problems that he can’t overcome. Plus he’s never been the same since the injury against Houston. Throwing motion changed and everything.

Trevor is a bottom quarter NFL QB.

It's visibly evident to anyone with any football knowledge at all.

There are tons of articles breaking BTJ’s bad play down this year.  Specifically him shying away and giving up.  Especially early this year.  That’s when he was at his worst.    Hell, he has been better post “injury”.

and the entire BTJ break out was all Mac.  Not Trevor.  Those are polar opposites throwing the ball.

BTJ has sucked this year.  Just a fact.  People defending him and claiming others don’t watch is just silly.   And for the record, the guy who says Trevor has a PJ Walker brain doesn’t want Trevor lol.  I also had to talk sense into people when half the board wanted Watson lol.   Not sure what the spin attempt elsewhere in the thread is about lol.

There are multiple clips

This is a consider a drop when the ball is high

And for every drop pass Trevor must lead the league in dropped ints, just this pass game vs Houston they dropped 2

Lawrence is an upgrade but I want nothing to do with that albatross of a contract.

Almost everyone is an upgrade.  We could ignore all starting QBs and list the 32 backup QBs in the NFL.....and find a ton of upgrades.  I mean, many if the convo is just about who is better today and that's all the convo is.

I don't know about a ton when you start with #2's and #3's but way too many for an NFL QB with as many starts as Bryce has.

Trevor is one of the very few Id still ride with BY* ONLY reason being the money *

Trevor is an enigma. Like others said, he's a lab grown QB/Madden createaplayer basically like John Elway 2.0..I think it goes Elway, Luck, and the discussion starts for Trevor in best QB prospect ever.

Fact of the matter, he's truly awful like 3rd from bottom bitach each year. Much like BY he's gotten too many starts as well.

Many have tied to unlock and once I saw Doug petterson fail, its over.

No chance I want the Panthers to pay 50 million per year and still suck ass. That's the only thing saving BY is his rookie contract.

Firm pass form me, Id exhausted nearly every method rather than take on a terrible QB and pay them 50 million per to be terrible. If he somehow got in the backup price/fix me price range, even then I still don't believe.....he's very very bad and has been his whole long career......Jags have tied to supply lots of help in the form of coaches and players too.

No doubt, Lawrence is supremely more physically talented than Bryce, although that’s a really low bar.  That being said, I asked ChatGPT the other day which WB Bryce Young most closely mirrored and it said EXACTLY Trevor Lawrence.  I was actually blown away by how similar their stats are.  I have heard more recent rumblings that Jacksonville was growing restless with him but without looking at the numbers, I couldn’t understand why.  I had no idea he has struggled that badly for the duration of his pro career.  Watching him in college, he seemed like he was going to be a sure fire franchise QB.  All that being said, I’d still take him a million times over Bryce and alternatives like Mac Jones.

I've already had this discussion years ago and per normal I had a great picture to illustrate my point. This was when Daniel Jones was used dog water playing for the Giants, his first 3 years mirrored Trevors.....guess what they were= AWFUL, like by far league worst. Giants entered some Jones terror timeline by not picking up his 5th year, then signing him to some 4yr 160million insane deal, then cutting him right after. Trevor is the worst. Like others I fell for "Hes 6'5, mobile, and can toss it over a mountain...". He's awful and its sad this isn't well known or talked about more since its the "jags". Then when the jags gave him a bag...not only a QB bag, but a top 3 at time bag....up there with signing Watson and Wilson as biggest NFL mistakes. Again, he's one of the prime few that Id rather roll with rookie deal BY and I have 100+ post of my BY haterade.

    • Either way there's some tough teams on the schedule this year, on paper anyways.
    • Same. I would prefer a MNF game earlier in the season. As if more likely has some significance in case things go south this season. If we perform well enough we could even get another game forced to a Sunday night spot later in the season.
    • Wanted to jump into this thread. Although I do not post anymore I do look in as there are a few old friends around. Loved hearing some of the names you mentioned.  Another  oldie is NanceUSMC.  He is the one who got me here from the old Observer forum.  Good guy and smart football guy. I have learned a lot from a lot of good Huddlers over the years, Over time. we have sadly lost a few who left this earth too soon.  Anyone who know of someone, it would be nice to try to make a list.  One of the more recent, CosmoGirl,  was someone that kind of hit hard.  Life sucks sometimes. Some of the best times were when we had our own tailgate and could meet up in person.  I think it made us better. Several dedicated volunteers, lead by LiverMush, started setting things up in the wee hours of each gameday morning.  Don't know all those regulars but I remember JakeFlake was one.  For you newbies...each game,  a Huddler (or a group) sponsored the food for each tailgate.  Eating was free but a donation was asked for.  At the end of the year those donations were used to buy bicycles for Toys for Tots.  Over the years Huddlers bought a lot of new bikes for kids for Christmas.  (I am guessing a couple of hundred each year.)  We had a good time getting together, got to make friends in person, and then got to feel like you were doing something good. It was truly a community. I got to meet Dan Morgan at one of our tailgates...he brought pizza from his restaurant.  How many of you remember that?  Glad the restaurant did not make it....lol. Not only have people changed, and come and gone.....but the entire nature and purpose has changed. Nothing lasts forever and we move on but we still like to think about good times. Same reason we take pictures. Want to ask a question I have not seen anyone else mention......who remembers    "The Couch" ?  We have argued, laughed, lived the ups and downs of football and dealt with a little real life along the way.  A thanks to  the Mods who keep this going.  I am sure they sacrifice a lot of their time out of love for the forum and the Panthers. Take care my friends and be well.  I will close with my new favorite quote which I think is greatly needed in these difficult times.
