No it’s not. The risk is the highest letting the other team get the ball first. They can still score a TD and end the game so it’s not all things equal. If they thought the other offense sucks and their defense can handle it, then it makes no difference if they start with the ball or not. You still take the ball.

No more than one 10-minute period will follow a three-minute intermission. Each team must have the opportunity to possess the ball. The exception: if the team kicking off to start the overtime period scores a safety on the receiving team’s initial possession, in which case the team that kicked off is the winner.

With 6 games left consistency has left the building.   You simply have to bring in more competition n9 matter what he does to finish.

Do you think they pick up his fifth year?

I have no clue if they do, but I have accepted after this game, he will start all of next year regardless of the fifth being picked up or not.

That’s not how OT works anymore. TD doesn’t end it.

Unless he completely flamed out, he was always going to get next year.

Oh I didn’t see this changed. I’d still take the ball all things equal, putting pressure on your defense still seems like the riskier of the two options

Making a decision off a single game performance is like drafting a player strictly off a highlight reel.

You do have to factor today in, but full season evaluation matters more.

I feel like it is best to remain detached on the issue for now and let it play out.

There are a couple of suspect factors here, the odd circumstance of owning One team being a big one. He flat out owns them at this point.
And if you go back and find his highlight games and then look at the games immediately after, they aren’t good. Like at all. That speaks to the consistency issue when you zoom out and get into the big picture.

He did really well today. The team did really well too. He didn’t do this alone. But it was a great job.

Understood...

Taking the ball is still my preference, but yeah the changes make kicking first a valid option.

You want to know exactly what you need. Completely changes how you play a crucial 4th down

He didn't win alone.

His losses also weren't solely on him.

I'm still undecided.

It puts more pressure on the receiving team, if they don't score, we just need a FG to win, if they kick a FG, we can still win with a TD, it's simple. You just stuck in your ways like always

I wanted Stroud...

I'm not sold on Bryce as QB of the future...

But with all that in mind, this game is something you have to acknowledge.

It almost seems like this team is bi-polar. We have a week where the effort is there and the team is focused. The next week it looks like they are walking through the motions. We will find out a lot in the next few weeks. I hope today’s win gives them some confidence.
