Kudos to Bryce Young

I'll be the first to say, I do not believe in Bryce Young. One game does not erase 3 years of bad play............but you gotta tip your cap today. What a hell of a game. The only problem is he'll probably follow it up with a 150 yd clunker next week. But for today, he deserves praise after coming back from injury and dropping 450 yards.

I agree, consistency is what I'm looking for.

Your expectations aren't realistic. No QB makes every throw in any game. Watch KC play right now. Let me know how many passes you think Mahomes could have made but didn't. Heck we saw Josh Allen miss passes against Carolina a couple of weeks ago.

This is my biggest gripe with the perpetual doomers. There’s bad play from even the most proven elite QBs.

This game is certainly an outlier, but I also think it shows you what this offense could be regularly with the receivers doing their jobs on routes, catching, and YAC. Bryce connected deeper than average AND we finally got multiple YAC plays that you see other teams getting consistently. We should be in the 200-300 receiving yards range more often… unless we are going for 200 on the ground.

T-Mac had that great TD where he kept working on the scramble and found an open spot. Those opportunities haven’t been there much for us like when I watch other teams.

At least you give him props. However most of this board need to stay on sidelines till they see the QB they desire. Bryce showed up injured and delivered. The defense was not helping. I will forever support QBs and player who fight till the end for this team. Half yall dont derseve pie just too emotionally back on the bandwagon win we win. Ready to throw folks away after a loss. Not how to be a fan but how to be a groupie.

Did ai write this again?

IT was a great game. Where the fug was this offense against NO? Just insane the Jekyl and Hyde performances you get from this team on a week to week basis. It's definitely an improvement over the last few years though I will say that. Jury is still out on Bryce even though I think we need to still seriously consider bringing in some serious competition next year. We may not need to go out and spend a 1st on a QB but definitely need to grab one in the top half of the draft and consider a vet or two that can still play. Great job to Bryce today though it was nice to be able to watch an entire game of Panthers football and still win at the end.

I get it but we’ve won 4 of the last 5. It’s more tale of two seasons at this point.

See this is why these conversations become so contentious because in one breath folks like you demand only complimentary discussion for one player but then have absolutely no qualms throwing anyone else under the bus when you need a scapegoat. And yet you posture to others about what it is to be a "real fan". Clown behavior.

Being a Panthers fan does not require blind support for a player. Bryce had a great game today - he gets kudos.

He's had atrocious games in the recent past, and those also matter.

Hopefully moving forward we see the better Bryce because we need him to play better to win.

It was just FUN to watch us attack the entire field today. All 3 TD's on throws more than 10 yards? Wow, who'da thunk it! I just want to see us play loose and fkin go for broke as far as play calling and letting it fly. I feel like this team is a reincarnation of pre-riverboat Ron Rivera...we are just too timid in so many places.

He threatened all over the field. Big kudos to him.

One minor note - one of his TDs was just a ~5 yard pass. Still, hard fought TD by TMac there and great to see.

Need to see him have a game like this against anyone other than the falcons. He owns them for some reason. I’m not complaining about that but we haven’t seen Bryce play this level of football against anyone else yet

He had sub 200 pas yards and Rico played out of his mind. This game was far away his best game and the first time this year they won because of Bryce not in spite of him.

25 passes, 199 passing yards, 8.0 per attempt, 3 passing touchdowns, game winning drive. It was a very balanced game from our offense. If we threw the ball more, he would have more yards.

Not quite. 6 wins is technically better than what our average has been per season the last few years which is around 5 but the hardest part of our schedule is set to begin. Seahawks, 49ers, Rams, Buccs x2, and the Taints who man handled us last week. With the way we played today you'd think we'd be able to hang with all of those teams. But after all that we've seen this season I could very easily see us not winning another game. We'll just have to see which team shows up

My issue with posts like this is it puts ALL the blame on the receivers to "do their jobs."

I think this game proves what the offense can be when Bryce can throw accurately downfield. The problem is, he hasn't been able to. Coker has been open consistently. T-Mac has been getting separation. But a lot of times our guys have had to catch terrible balls and that prevents YAC.  On top of that, we've all seen Bryce just... miss people.

Bryce came out focused and played HARD, gave a huge gutsy performance. I hope he follows this up with more performances like that.  And sure, our WRs need to continue to play hard, but I think it's unfair to claim they haven't been (other than XL, but yeah...)

    • The irony is the vast majority of this board are long-suffering Panthers fans.  It is inherent in the nature of it being a message board.  We are a prehistoric relic of glory days past.  The new fans are all on Reddit, discord, and all that other poo.
    • Again, it’s not about that single play.  Me saying that defines his era is reflective of 2.5 years of work.  Yes, Zavala played a big part in that failure of a play, but as the commentators mentioned, Bryce also has to get tf back as soon as he snaps it.  He has always had more issues operating from under center as well.  That all ties in to the fact that for over 2.5 years, he has these inexplicable plays that you never see happen anywhere else.  I’ve been on this Earth four decades and watching or playing football for three of them, and I do not recall ever seeing that happen before.  Have I seen someone fumble the snap in 4th?  Yes.  Have I seen someone try to escape pressure after getting the snap and falling over or flailing around until they were sacked?  Sure.  Throw a pick?  Yes.  Fumble after getting the snap?  Yes.  Lots of bad things can and have happened.  Not even getting out from under the center, falling on your back, then looking like you can’t figure out how to get up until you’re touched down?  Never.  So even when other players are involved in the fug ups since Bryce has been the QB, the point is, it’s some intangible quality that is present with him at QB.  Things happen that shouldn’t happen.  Inexplicable fug ups are the norm. And again, I I fully considered we had 3+ mins and the defense was playing well when I posted it.  I even believed the with the way Bryce was playing outside of the 4th down flubs, that it was likely we could win…  and I am ecstatic we won.  But again, the point of this thread is the play was representative of a much bigger and persistent problem.  Look how great we felt after getting over .500 and then had a gimme win at home against a fuging 1-8 team.  Bryce comes out and doesn’t even show up while getting outplayed by several magnitudes against a 27 year old 2nd round pick in his second start.  That is fuging inexplicable and should never fuging happen.  Brian St. Pierre would’ve looked like fuging Joe Montana in that scenario.  Dameyune Craig would’ve looked like Mahomes.  But it was likely Bryce didn’t even show up.  That’s where this thread comes from.  As good as winning today feels, do I trust him to come back out and do it again next week, or ever again?  Absolutely not.  And that’s the problem.
    • He threw long most of his college career.  He is a superb deep ball passer.
