the 49ers are likely our worst matchup of the season....

I honestly get more nervous when my team is favored especially when we’re favored at home by 13.5 points lol.

Oh, no! Expectations!

Two biggest things that need to go our way relate to injuries. Bryce's ankle doesn't flare up and Wallace can come back. Have to keep scoring and have to limit the damage CMC will do for us.

what they do really well:

Kittle

CMC out of the backfield catching passes

is not our strong suit, especially now down Rosebloom as well

So how do you attack the 49ers? To me the ONLY way we beat this team is we lean heavily on the time of possession and keep CMC/Kittle off the field

everything is about matchups and who you are playing.  I do think it's the worst matchup for our D on the year.

and Bryce Young outdoors and on the road......is generally not good for the pass game.  He has 2 games this season over 200 yards and they were both in domes.

The niners are so thin on defense, they are going to sell out to stop the pass (which they already struggle at) this is going to be a Rico game. We will probably be good for 20-24 points. Question is going to be how does our defense play.

Sell out to stop the pass? Why in the world would they do that.

one half of football vs Atlanta doesn’t rewrite how you play us.

We were supposed to be your worst matchup and you guys beat us. I see it’s a Monday night game.

Many knew the Panthers would fight in that game because the Packers, in general, have devolved into perpetual underachievers. The Bills game came after their bye where they were struggling in the run game and had a lot of dudes coming back off of suspension and injury. It was a get right game for them.

The Packers just aren’t that great.

I’m a packers fan and I agree with you that we aren’t that great. I just hope we beat the Vikings this week.

The trend seems to be we play our worst games coming off our biggest wins, so I imagine we're probably getting blown out. But you never know.

The 49ers defense is not what it once was. I mean, Jacoby Brissette just set the NFL record for completions in a game against them this past week. Bottom 3rd in the league in pass defense and middle of the pack in run defense.

I actually think our best strategy in this game might be to come out aggressive throwing the ball the same way we did against the Falcons. Put TMac in the slot some more, send XL deep and let Coker work the intermediate areas. Put Bryce in the shotgun and go full spread. That seems to be where he is at his best.

Let the short passing game function as a de facto run game of sorts, keep the clock moving with short passes and hope we can sustain some long, time-consuming drives.

    • At this point, I think Chubba is the odd man out. I hate that, but I think Dowdle gives us more production and big play ability.  But there is still a lot of football to play.  I think it depends on how much Dowdle will want too.
    • I’ve been anti-trade when it comes to Melo, but the way this season has started, it may be time.  I love his game and he’s a cool dude, but I’m starting to think, if he’s your best player, you’re never going to win anything of significance.  Too many brain farts, too many injuries, and ultimately for as fun and entertaining as he is to watch - his game is indeed a thing of beauty - it just doesn’t translate to wins.  And that’s IF he even plays.  I think it’s time to cash out and maximize the return.  I love Melo, but I think it’s pretty clear what the ceiling is for a team where he is the best player.
    • Every NFL team, college program, hell even HS has numerous "what ifs" that got derailed by injury. It's a brutal sport and half the battle is just getting lucky enough to stay healthy. Doesn't matter how durable you are and how well you take care of your body everyone is one weird hit or awkward twist away from a career derailing injury.
