the 49ers are likely our worst matchup of the season....

I honestly get more nervous when my team is favored especially when we’re favored at home by 13.5 points lol.

Oh, no! Expectations!

Two biggest things that need to go our way relate to injuries. Bryce's ankle doesn't flare up and Wallace can come back. Have to keep scoring and have to limit the damage CMC will do for us.

what they do really well:

Kittle

CMC out of the backfield catching passes

is not our strong suit, especially now down Rosebloom as well

So how do you attack the 49ers? To me the ONLY way we beat this team is we lean heavily on the time of possession and keep CMC/Kittle off the field

everything is about matchups and who you are playing.  I do think it's the worst matchup for our D on the year.

and Bryce Young outdoors and on the road......is generally not good for the pass game.  He has 2 games this season over 200 yards and they were both in domes.

The niners are so thin on defense, they are going to sell out to stop the pass (which they already struggle at) this is going to be a Rico game. We will probably be good for 20-24 points. Question is going to be how does our defense play.

Sell out to stop the pass? Why in the world would they do that.

one half of football vs Atlanta doesn’t rewrite how you play us.

We were supposed to be your worst matchup and you guys beat us. I see it’s a Monday night game.

Many knew the Panthers would fight in that game because the Packers, in general, have devolved into perpetual underachievers. The Bills game came after their bye where they were struggling in the run game and had a lot of dudes coming back off of suspension and injury. It was a get right game for them.

The Packers just aren’t that great.

I’m a packers fan and I agree with you that we aren’t that great. I just hope we beat the Vikings this week.

The trend seems to be we play our worst games coming off our biggest wins, so I imagine we're probably getting blown out. But you never know.

The 49ers defense is not what it once was. I mean, Jacoby Brissette just set the NFL record for completions in a game against them this past week. Bottom 3rd in the league in pass defense and middle of the pack in run defense.

I actually think our best strategy in this game might be to come out aggressive throwing the ball the same way we did against the Falcons. Put TMac in the slot some more, send XL deep and let Coker work the intermediate areas. Put Bryce in the shotgun and go full spread. That seems to be where he is at his best.

Let the short passing game function as a de facto run game of sorts, keep the clock moving with short passes and hope we can sustain some long, time-consuming drives.

Bryce also averages close to about 100 more passing yards per game in a dome vs outside.

I think this game will play out more like the Saints game, Packers game, etc in terms of what Bryce is able to do.  What we need is for Rico to be able to find a whole in a crowded box maybe twice and gash them for big ones

their entire starting defense is on IR

Bosa, Warner, Gross matos, mykel williams

Injuries don’t matter when it comes to the Niners.  They are coached and built so damn well.

I will say this to some of the other points made in this thread - I do NOT understand why we continue to play the LBs so much.  I noticed it as we got later in the Atlanta game when ATL had to pass, I even asked in the game day thread, if you’re 99% sure they’re passing, especially several plays in a row, why tf do we still have Cherelus out there?  At the very least put an extra safety out there - someone with better movement and fluidity in space.  I understand Ransom was injured and out last week, but I would really like to see us put some packages out there with 4 rushers and Ransom and Richardson as sub LBs.  Rozeboom is really just a hustle guy and Cherelus is a hole stomping thumper who is a complete liability in coverage.  But, NGL, once Kittle catches it, we’re gonna have hell bringing him down, especially if we go smaller.

Out of the two games before the bye, this one is the most winnable. If we want to keep playoff hopes alive, we really need to beat the 49ers.

The Buccaneers remaining schedule is laughably skewed in their favor. If the Panthers want to win the South we may have to win 4 out of the next 6, and beat the Bucs twice.

While the Bucs schedule is definitely easier than ours, they have definitely been reeling of late and Baker seems to have come back down to Earth a bit (largely in part of the injuries).

I'll be shocked if they beat the Rams and could see them losing to a Cardinals team I think is better than their record shows. Dolphins game could be a tricky one for them also - they have played pretty well at home. But yeah, they will likely have the division record advantage over us if we split with them because they likely beat NO and ATL. I think we have to get to 10 wins to have any chance of making the playoffs - best chance of doing that is winning NO and SF and then either sweeping Tampa or beating the Seahawks + splitting with Tampa.

Now that I look at it, I think our only chance really is sweeping Tampa. That home loss to NO badly hurt our playoff chances...
