Willis has been good every time he has gotten an opportunity with the Packers and he is a UFA next season. I think he is likely a borderline starter/backup but he could push Bryce here. I would be fine with him

Send a 7th to Philly for Howell.  Perfect backup and can play.

Willis is my no.1 back up option. No more Dalton, his career needs to be put out to pasture.

 

That said, he'll probably go to Indy or Pittsburgh in hopes of competing for a starting job.

One thing I didn’t consider is how thin this draft is at quarterback. That’s going to drive up the market for backups and borderline starters like Willis, Jones, and Jameis Winston. Because of that, we’ll most likely be priced out of the market for this tier of backup.

It would be interesting if we could sign Willis to backup Young, but I have a feeling he could end up on a team that might be willing to roll the dice on him or at least give him a chance in a QB competition (perhaps Miami when they cut Tua?).

Depends on the injury. The Dolphins let that mindset cost them Drew Brees.

Not like we'd be looking at giving him big money anyway. I just want someone who can come in and give us options if (when) Bryce starts looking like typical Bryce again next year. Malik Willis, Sam Howell, Marcus Mariota. Gimme somebody along those lines. Not washed up Dalton. If we have one of those other three guys I think we have probably already washed our hands of Bryce because I doubt he gets back on the field after he missed a game earlier this year. He wasn't playing well and Canales had already benched him last year. If we had a capable #2 I think that would've been curtains.

At this point I would welcome us signing him, Trey Lance, trading for Jameis Winston, asking about Deshaun Watson and playing phone tag with Tom Brady before I ever fully entertain a season of Bryce Young being the defacto Starting Quarterback of the Panthers.

Thas the very reason we had Dalton as our backup, any of those other guys takes Bryce's job pretty easily. 

I imagine if we are going with Bryce as the starter again we will have an underwhelming backup like that Mike White guy. 

We damn sure arent going to have a Malik Willis unless we are done with Bryce as the starter.

Good for Malik Willis. He may be playing his self into an opportunity to fight for a QB1 job somewhere. Definitely some QB needy teams with not a lot of QB talent at the top of the draft, especially if moore or simpson stay another year. I don’t see him in Carolina when he could likely have a chance to be a 1 year starter somewhere and prove it.
