I thought that was the point of the conversation.  Was Bryce just not good in college and was always a bad QB but was somehow carried to glory on the wings of elite surrounding talent and great coaching?

Even in college statistically speaking Bryce Young was inferior to Manziel V. Young Leinart and Tébow. And he is the smallest starting QB in the NFL.

I remember watching him at bama and thinking he throws a lot of wobbly non spiral balls that have very little velocity. Knew it would be a real problem in the NFL and it is.

That was one of things I saw people talking about before we drafted him. But his mind was supposed to make up for that.
Looks like you shouldn’t be drafting a QB for his mind.

Doesn’t mean they are gonna be good in the NFL. Plenty of good college QB suck once they make it to the NFL level. Unfortunately we drafted one of them.

Bryce with a mediocre arm peaked with a really good Alabama team in college and still got shut down by Georgia.

Take a look at Bryce's stat line in this game and tell me that doesn't look familiar 44 games into his NFL career.

57 attempts just to get over 300 yards 2 picks and 6.5 yards per attempt.

The writing on the wall was there for anyone to see.

Didn’t he also throw a really bad interception to lose in the Championship game? Like it was vintage bad Bryce with that pick.
57 pass attempts for less than 400 yards is ridiculous. His ypc being at 6.5 is just yuck.

If they extend Young Canales will be back. They are tied at the hip.

They will be if they extend Young but I don't think we're there just yet. Morgan and Canales are tied and I don't believe Tepper is going to go look for a new front office for Bryce as things stand.

This is a #1 pick lol. Imagine if we'd just stayed patient for a year or two

Yeah, yeah...I sang that sad song about 3 years ago and it fell on deaf ears.  We ride with Bryce until the '27 draft and if we screw the pooch again by not getting our franchise QB in that draft, I may just swear off this eternally cursed franchise.

Also, it's odd that the certain guys that lean into one or two stats lines to 'prove' Bryce is somehow a superior QB are not in here defending him on this one.  It's crazy how they implore us that Bryce is the man, but our lying eyes just can't see it because we don't understand what we are watching.

Are you saying we need a new HC to tell Tepper that Bryce sucks? Like not following the logic here.

OP posted a stat showing we have possibly one of the worst QBs ever and you want to get rid of the guy that has to deal with it and has us on the cusp of our first winning season in almost a decade despite the fact?

That’s what this place is. We still have a below average roster, but we have players that have shown really good development. Two years ago this franchise was in a horrible place- worst in the league.

But let’s fire the guy responsible for doing that. Spinning the coaching roulette wheel always works out wonderfully.

Frank? Stop. Context freaking matters. Bryce threw for 400 yards,3 TDs, no INTs to beat Georgia in the SEC championship game like a month earlier that season. Metchie tore his ACL in that game and didn't play in the final game. Then Jamison Williams hurt his knee in the 1st quarter of that final game. Dude still played his tail off against a defense that would have 5 first round draft picks! 5 first round draft picks! With neither of his 2 big targets. 365 yards, 1 TD and 2 picks against that defense with 3rd level receivers is not a bad game. Yes he got in a shootout and lost against an offense with George Pickens, Ladd McConkey, Adonia Mitchell, Darnell Washington and Brock frigging Bowers. All without his top 2 guys, his only 2 guys, Metchie and Williams. Context matters. Name another receiver on that Bama team. And remember, this is before Gibbs.

I agree he's way too inconsistent right now. I even said he isn't a franchise QB because of it. This whole back and forth is because someone said they could tell Bryce wasn't gonna be a good pro based on how he played in college. And that ain't true. This whole arm issue, not throwing deep and too small to pass over the middle was not an issue in college. Dude was the truth. Obviously all great college players don't become great pros. But in my opinion that's usually either a guy that doesn't have a good work ethic, does dumb stuff outside of football or goes to the wrong team.

There are probably dozens of folks on here that were saying that pre draft, I mean there are receipts,  if you want to get into it go for it but you know there were a ton of folks that were screaming his college production was all a sham.  Being the "truth" at alabama doesnt really mean jack fuging poo in the nfl.  And the proof is in the pudding as they say. But this poverty ass franchise seems to be content to roll with this shitty midget for 2 more years

Alabama covered up a lot of issues he had. Mediocre arm, bad footwork, being short. Alabama’s offense made Mac Jones look amazing. So it is not surprise it could make a QB like Bryce look amazing too.
Bryce was a good college QB, but all his issues make him a horrible NFL QB.

The entire hype machine around Bryce Young before the draft revolved around the notion that he would not need elite talent to be a good to great quarterback because he was basically a tiny Peyton Manning and all I've seen in this thread and largely for the last 3 years are woe is me takes about how everyone around Bryce stinks and he needs more help.

It's exhausting.
